Traded for my Giant Talon 29er

I'm mounting these on my 29er mountain bike to take to Florida and cruise through 30A territory. They were fantastic, I have 29 x 2.5" but if I buy another set I will choose 29 x 2" to fit bike racks. These are very smooth tires with good edge grip for fast cornering on tarmac.

Cons

Good stable tire but picks up gravel

I love how wide these tires are for stability. The tread pattern seems to pick up small bits of gravel while driving – which isn't a terrible problem, but it's annoying. I leave the tires on, but I put my old 2" wide custom tires back on the bike - they don't pick up gravel at all - I really liked the wider Maxxis tread, but I can hear a small rock whirling around the tire. I drive so I'm not okay with this tire.

Cons
  • boring packaging

It should be noted that I could not install them on my drives myself. The bead has steel wire which I struggled and struggled with during installation. I'm not a bike mechanic so there may be tricks and tips to make this easier. I don't know any tricks and gave up after an hour or two to no avail. I took my wheels and…

Very smooth but damn that gravel throws!

Once fitted, these tires offer a very smooth ride on tarmac. A big upgrade from my Maxxis Minions for sidewalk riding. I prefer to ride smooth, paved, and wooden surfaces at places like Pump Lanes and Ray's Indoor Mountain Bike Park in Cleveland, Ohio. On loose gravel, however, these tires pick up the gravel and throw it away. on your down tube. Be prepared for paint chips to appear in the color of your downtube. When I tried to mount the tires on the wheels of my Motobecane Taz 3, the tire…
