My son and I needed to know the slope of our lawn to drain water. This little device was easy to use and gave accurate results. The need for more expensive options like Transit or Laser has been eliminated.

There are many high-tech methods of laser leveling. Unfortunately, they cost about five times as much as this simple device. Sure, it takes someone on both ends, but that's a minor issue that's more than outweighed by the cost.

Basic technique that works. Find something to attach them to, like a chair leg, and fill it with water. Make sure that there are no air pockets in the hose and that the water supply line is flush with the ground at both ends. Ideal for outdoor projects such as decks or patios.

As other reviewers have pointed out the product photo is incorrect, the hardware of the product you will receive is all plastic and not brass as shown. I also had an issue with the yellow caps that pop out of the tube too easily, it's not that hard to put back in but you have to find them in the grass first and then fill them up with the water that spilled.

In theory this is a great idea. In practice, however, not so much. They are designed to be installed on the ends of a garden hose. BUT, a garden hose holds so much water that it takes forever to stop splashing from end to end; like a bath where no one can sit still. I was trying to level a 75ft trailer with this. It was almost impossible - in fact I gave up.

Works well but takes a long time to get the right amount of water into the hose. The instructions are on the packaging, not a separate piece of paper, and they should state that you must use a rigid type of hose, otherwise the water level will fluctuate wildly due to the expansion and contraction of the hose.
