The flash is excellent. The flash is bright and exposure control is easier than on my Canon 430EX. Flash would get 5 stars from me. I'm giving it two stars because the way it attaches to your lens is terrible. You remove all the filters from the lens and screw a cheap plastic ring onto the same threads as your filters. A lightning bolt was then attached to this ring. The rings are very cheap plastic and the threads don't match the threads on my Canon/Lens. After about 5 minutes I can put theโ€ฆ

Excellent shoe mount ring flash

This is my first ring flash so I can only compare it to the Canon 580EX flash. While it doesn't have the power of the 580EX, it does illuminate the subject quite well. It has all the features of the 580EX and if you can use the 580EX in manual mode you can master this MK-14EXT. This ring flash is similar to the 580EX in that a fast shutter speed gives you a dark background that makes your subject stand out better. A small aperture (f/32) gives you more depth of field, but when you use a fastโ€ฆ

Professional Macro Flash Ring

If you are looking for an inexpensive (not cheap) professional TTL macro ring, look no further. In every respect and purpose, this is the same as the Canon flash ring, only a lot cheaper. Meike MK-14EXT flash ring in excellent quality. I hesitated to make this purchase because it came from China. But it was shipped via USPS and delivered within 6 business days. It arrived in perfect condition, all parts were well packed. The first half of the manual was in Chinese and the second half inโ€ฆ

Good price good performance nice looks

Pros: - Comes with LOTS of lens adapter rings so it will fit almost anything you might have - Real flash bulbs, not LEDs as far as I can - Fast recycling speed - Autofocus lights are bright enough to help but don't wash everything completely (but I don't use them all the time) - Solid build but feels very sturdy. Cons: - Lens adapter rings have no filter screws. So they have to be the LAST "filter" on the lens, which means your lens cap has to be attached with screws. Well, you have to take itโ€ฆ

Works perfectly. until it breaks

I'm torn about the Meike MK-14EXT ring flash. I bought this from Revain about eight months ago and it has been used regularly but rarely since then. maybe 300-400 photos with flash. I was blown away by the performance of this flash for the price and enjoyed using all of its features to take great macro photos. I figured it would be the thing, five times the price of a real Canon flash. However, I did notice some strange shadows in the last few photos and noticed that only one of the two flashes

  • Not as good as it promises

I've had this flash for about a month now and I'm very happy with it. I wasn't sure if I really needed a macro flash so I wouldn't spend 5x more for the Canon version but at this price point I didn't mind trying. I would recommend this device to anyone interested in macro photography. Of course it's still too early for me to judge the life of the flash bulb at just a month, but even if they only last a year I feel I got a better deal than a Canon flash. This is my first experience in macroโ€ฆ
