Great toy, but be careful. There may be broken pieces

Bought this for my nephew who loves dice. This is a great toy. I opened it up with it and noticed some edges that were rough and needed sanding. I'm glad I started playing with him because that could lead to splinters. My dad sanded the edges and he loves the toy. Just be sure to inspect all edges before letting your little one play. Probably good advice for all wooden toys but I expected better quality from this brand.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Good but not great

Great educational and fun toy

Very cute, versatile and fun Montessori style toy. The car is fun to carry around as it has wheels and the bricks are printed with letters, numbers and objects/animals making it a great educational toy. My only complaint is that the animals are printed on the colorless side and are a bit faded which is hard to see and the color is coming off so not sure about durability (we only had it a few months and it wasn't really difficult). User).

OK, but not enough!

I was surprised how small it is. The same day I received it, I saw a set at Walmart that was huge in comparison and had words on the blocks that matched the alphabet on the block. This is KID Connection and costs $16 including taxes. I'm taking Melissa and Doug back. Please see the photos I have included for comparison. I've seen reviews saying the connection string for kids was short, but I haven't opened it yet, but the blocks are oversized on the ones I've replaced.

Toxic paint chips off easily and MDF

Well, my son loves his stones, but I've noticed that his mouth is always full of paint stains. When I saw that it was Melissa & Doug's peeling paint and MDF and not wood as claimed, I was appalled. He has a tooth. I did a little research and found that M&D has had massive recalls in the past due to the use of toxic chemicals and dyes in their products! I can't find anywhere here that they have changed their approach and that the products are made in China, so I highly doubt it.

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • Some difficulties

I hope your child loves the shards!

As the name suggests, I bought one of these brand new ones and the edges of the blocks are covered in splinters. Melissa and Doug, since you're parents, do you care if my kid puts a piece of cheap softwood in his mouth that breaks like floorboards? I am waiting to contact your support team. This goes beyond poor quality control, so keep that in mind. I had the same blockages as a kid. Apparently the patent on the original has expired because Melissa and Doug jumped at the chance to sell a…

not at all what I expected.

This Melissa and Doug set didn't impress me at all. I haven't even opened the package and I'm already disappointed. This is obvious: these blocks are very small, too small for young hands to handle them properly, the paint is already peeling easily INSIDE the packaging (so I can imagine how much it will peel with regular use and play), and they just look like very cheap blocks. I was hoping these blocks were the original full size ABC blocks we played with as kids, but alas they are far from…

My 16 month old loves them!

I bought these bricks because I needed a simple, easy to stack brick to teach my 1 year old the concept of stacking. It's also a classic toy that takes me back to my childhood. After the first purchase I regretted not getting the larger block version I saw at Walmart because they are a bit small making them less stable and difficult for a small child. However, I recently got them out again and my now 16-month-old played with them non-stop for a good 45 minutes. Now she can fold several of them…
