Disappointment and disappointment!

I had high hopes for this product as we love all Melissa & Dough products but I was disappointed and my child was disappointed. The first thing I didn't like was the lack of a "home" basket to keep all the apples. This makes it difficult to just learn to count because they pretty much have to figure out how to subtract! The magnets are also not strong enough to carry an apple from basket to basket without "dropping" it. The concept of this maze is great, but it just doesn't work.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Hard to say

We need a better quality magnet than usual

We had high hopes for this product as it was Melissa and Doug's product. The magnet doesn't slide on the plexiglass and is actually very scratchy. The magnet is not strong and it annoys the little ones when the magnet keeps dropping the balls. I also agree that there should be a home bucket. I don't think this toy is durable and that's why I'm disappointed because I think it could be better. You can see in my photos how the plexiglass is already scratched in less than a minute of use. from a…

Weak magnet irritates

I love Melissa and Doug and my daughter LOVES magnetic toys in the library so I thought it would be fun to have one especially for fun in the car. For the most part, the quality is fantastic, as usual. nice thick wood and plastic on top, bright colors, good educational concept with counting and matching beads by number and cute pictures; however, the magnets are missing. She is 3 years old and gets frustrated very easily because the pen magnet is not strong enough to keep the beads moving. I…

Very disappointed good fit for Novelty & Gag toys

We live for Melissa and Doug toys but are very disappointed in this product. Firstly, the magnet is very weak, the wand needs to be held steadily to even work slightly, which can be inconvenient and frustrating for small children, and the cord is a bit short, making the wand a bit difficult to maneuver. also awkward. Add to this our own disappointment that we bought this toy for our grandson who loves playing with a similar toy in the library. Our grandson has a vision problem but has no…

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Not as thick as other toys

Disappointed - poor quality

I love all Melissa & Doug products. This is the first disappointment in 5 years. The magnetic attraction is not enough to easily manipulate the balls. He keeps dropping the ball, even with adult accuracy compared to a toddler. Ideally, this could be a methodical exercise, counting and manipulating the balls for each number. That's not how it works. They move without intention and fail at intentional movements. This creates a chaotic mess, and there is no way this can be a logical operation…

A little heavy.

Bought this as an activity for my 1.5 year old on a car trip as I was looking forward to the hand eye coordination required. I usually try toys that are more than a year older than my child anyway, but I think they will benefit more after a year or so. It takes a bit of dexterity to use a magnetic ball stick, so a small child might get frustrated. I think this concept is very good and will use it more often in the coming months. The size is quite big which makes it a bit difficult to play on…
