Convenient / Controversial

Convenient, inexpensive, throw away. I'm not sure if they are "compostable" and one in ten coffees breaks when spooned, but Melitta's name is recognizable. I will buy a ceramic, washable version. I'm not sure why Revain's prompt asks if something is easy to clean or to its "taste". It may be helpful to review the review options of this paper, a one-off product!

Like the gremlins, don't get them wet!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND pre-wetting these filters. Every time I did this the filter burst and I ended up with a mug full of coffee grounds. I don't go crazy over it or anything, just gently dampen the filter, add my soil and gently pour in water, pretty standard stuff. You can tell when the filter is cracked because your water falls RIGHT through the cone and when it drains you can see the coffee go with it. I've wasted too much coffee this way not to learn my lesson: a little papery taste is way…

Not bad given my odd use case

I was looking for something I can use to filter cold beer sediment in glasses to remove any particles that the steel screen doesn't catch. They turned out to be the right size which was my main reason for my choice. They pick up most of it, but since I'm holding them over a glass (there's no filter holder) it's obvious they're pretty slow. I need to find a basket with a filter to hold them over the mug. Maybe a funnel. You don't catch everything, at the bottom of the cup some sediment remains…

  • Confident

They fit and work great

I use them in my OXO irrigation and they fit perfectly. I fold the filter along the bottom and sides where it fits and shirring as directed on the box. The coffee will NOT break through the bottom and the filter will not break, crack or move inside the OXO. My coffee tastes fantastic and I just throw the filter in the trash and that's it. Before I bought them, I tried two different reusable cloth filters. They were both fine. After a few uses they made lousy coffee compared to those paper…

Pros
  • Great for a small house

STILL the best filter out there

I've used just about every brand of coffee filter over the last fifty years, from good to bad, expensive to cheap to gold. Network. I use a gold mesh cone filter in my electric coffee maker that is taken out twice a year. But for everyday brewing, I use the Melitta #2 filter cup dispenser. Melitta still makes the best paper filters I've come across. Other filters clog, water and grounds just stay there and hardly drip. Or they leave an aftertaste in the coffee. I keep coming back to Melitta…

Pros
  • Double pleated filter prevents bursting

Doesn't work with some drippers #2

Unfortunately I've found that they don't work with my pot dripper (https://www.amazon.com/Bialetti-Ceramic-Coffee- Pourover-Dripper/dp/B01N2H1CL4/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=bialetti+pour+over+red&qid=1555687247&s=gateway&sr=8-3 )*If you have a round funnel dripper, how straight to the point, some of these filters will be below open every time. *I give them 3 stars because they need to be more specific than just saying "#2" for the size. They even have a picture on the side of the box showing a dripper

Pros
  • Natural Brown Unbleached Compostable Kosher Certified
Cons
  • High Price
