Rating updated. The quality is terrible! Great shoes!

Updated review When we received the shoes everything looked great. After 4 months of wearing they seem to have ripped and the velcro is coming loose. Back to Keens. First review. The shoes look great and meet all expectations from Merrell. My boy loves her! They run a bit big, we had to order 1/2 size down compared to what he wears at Keen. 7 Big Kid Kin is 6.5 Big Kid Merrell. The shoes not only tie with velcro, no big deal, they don't have laces but only close with velcro when I expected them

Pros
  • Grandson says these are his favorite shoes!!
Cons
  • Not intended for indoor use

Merrell - IT for active kids

We buy our young son a pair of Merrells every fall and mixed with rain and winter boots they last until sandal season. hold these. Thank you Merell!

Pros
  • Use this for some hikes and walks.
Cons
  • Not suitable for sports or other intense activities

We love the color!: my review

They are very durable and comfortable to the touch (my 2 year old wears them, I don't) and I can't forget what a cute blue/navy/lavender combination! Maybe it's a hinted pair for girls, but still the welcome change from all the darker green/red/blue/grey outfits for boys seems limited :)

Pros
  • Comfortable insole provides cushioning and support
Cons
  • May not provide adequate off-road stability

The material at the tip is worn out.

The material of the sock wore out leaving large black marks on each toe within a week or two of light use by my 3 year old. I would like to return. Very disappointed considering the price of the shoes and the brand.

Pros
  • The size is smaller than expected. So my daughter is a size 9 and she needs a size 10 shoe.
Cons
  • Not suitable for extreme temperatures

Ideal for on the go!

Perfect for our trip to Utah National Parks - a ton overcast - real hikes, not easy trails to viewpoints. Strong and durable. This is my son's second pair.

Pros
  • Fashionable design complements many different outfits
Cons
  • May not be suitable for all people with high arches.

Great shoes... in my review

Great shoe for my 3 year old boy, top quality and outlived the more expensive department store brands. Will definitely buy again!

Pros
  • Good buy. I actually bought a size bigger. We like to go camping and he feels comfortable with them.
Cons
  • Not waterproof or waterproof

The best shoes for a busy kid

This sturdy yet flexible shoe is perfect for my busy 3 year old. The wood underneath helps overcome any outdoor obstacles and they are machine washable.

Pros
  • Provides excellent grip and stability on uneven surfaces.
Cons
  • May not provide adequate protection against sharp objects

Very small but great

Great but very little. My toddler has just started fitting shoes from 0.5 to a full size smaller than what we ordered. We increased the size so she can wear them longer and add thick socks. They actually came and barely fit her. Be sure to order one size larger

Pros
  • Manufactured by a trusted and respected outdoor footwear brand
Cons
  • Can be uncomfortable in everyday life

Excellent quality! - my new rating

So many shoes are untrue these days but this one is great! This company is great. My daughter loves them and they are strong. Finally. Thanks!

Pros
  • Comfortable and offers a great width
Cons
  • Not intended for adult hiking or heavy outdoor use

Very very good comfortable shoes

Well tailored, very comfortable fit as expected, see size chart, do not order larger or smaller, measure your child's foot first and order accordingly

Pros
  • Fits great, looks great, very durable! - approved by the mother of a 3-year-old savage
Cons
  • Limited sizes available

Merrell's are cool

Merrell never fails to adapt. Our baby has wide shoes. Many sneakers say "wide" when they actually aren't. Merrell fits true to size. Very durable and will never fall apart. I know they are a bit more expensive than foreign imports but totally worth the price.

Pros
  • Easy to dress parents!!! Huge bonus
Cons
  • May not suit all styles or preferences

Great product in my review

I am buying shoes for four very active children aged 3 to 12. I have bought shoes from several brands and I find that Merrell's purchase is not only excellent but also stands the test that young children can ask of shoes.

Pros
  • The durable outsole offers excellent traction on a variety of surfaces.
Cons
  • May not offer the correct orientation for those with foot problems

Quality shoes: my review

Our son loves them. He wears them every day to school, walk, playground etc. and each pair has survived his growth to the next size. Looks comfortable and secure, just like our favorite adult hiking shoes.

Pros
  • We'll just keep buying them when he outgrows them! Very durable and fairly water resistant.
Cons
  • Cannot withstand heavy rain or snow

Concerned about durability

Initially pleased with these shoes but after only three months they are wearing out a lot more than they should. The fabric around the upper is frayed on all sides. However, what worries me the most is the wear and tear on the metal loop that the launch passes through. The hinge is failing and looks like it will break soon rendering these shoes unusable. Update 3/2021: Velcro failed, shoes fell apart, didn't even last a year. Super disappointed!

Pros
  • Sport sandals
Cons
  • Damaged

Great sole but small and difficult to put on.

I printed out the Merrel size chart and ordered the widest available. The length was perfect, the hole for the foot is stupid small. The market for good toddler street shoes is so big that I really had no choice and decided to keep them. They didn't get lighter, ie didn't get sick. Or maybe toddler feet just keep up. Again, an outsole with great traction for serious hiking and rough terrain. But they could really improve the ankle fit (maybe it's the width of the shoe but whatever, I hope next…

Pros
  • Shoes
Cons
  • Expensive

Lighter, more mesh/breathable, hopefully just as durable.

In general, I haven't found an affordable toddler shoe with better support than the Merrells on Revain. My little one had an M-Trail Chaser Jr. which he wore when we were out on muddy/gravel trails (compared to his Nikes). However, they are heavier than these and less breathable in my opinion as they have less mesh. (See side photo. This shoe is in the foreground. M-Trail Chaser is in the back.) That being said, I think they could be more durable and water resistant over time as they have more…

Pros
  • Athletic
Cons
  • No performance
