They are too short for a standard 5 gallon plastic tank. The cover is not screwed to the rubber seal. Nice try, but doesn't hit the mark.

Very easy installation. As others have noted the caps are a bit long and you have to tighten the base nut FIRMLY to close the cap, but when you do they work really well. Filling my 3 gallon JD tank took minutes with one of those "safety spouts". Now it takes less than 30 seconds even when using the safety spout.

I had a poorly ventilated gas cylinder. So I had to keep tipping the 5 gallon can up and down to break the vacuum. This jar was only a few years old and I can't find a 5 gallon jar that fills well with a vent. Now I made my own with these air vents. Really easy to install. I emptied the plastic jar and filled it with water just to be on the safe side before piercing the whole thing. BUY THIS PRODUCT!

Barrel needs to be longer for use on plastic cans. I couldn't tighten it enough with a wrench. I broke 2 of them trying to hold the shank with the needle nose while tightening the nut. I ended up using an impact wrench. This made it tight enough to close, but the lid didn't tighten enough to close (threads not long enough). I just grounded the open end of the lid until they close. I have many fuel cans that have the worst excuse for venting. Great idea and design, but the cap is too long for American gas cans. The thickness of the glass doesn't allow to attach the rod so it is long enough to attach the lid to keep it closed. When attaching a nut to a fuel tank stem, use any thread to tighten it to ensure a good seal on the tank. The removable vent cap is long enough to rest against the nut that secures the stem to the container so that the inside of the cap does not rest against the top of the stem.
