Metra Best for Spare Parts

Metra kits consistently fit better and look "more original" than any other brand. That's why I've used them exclusively in the hundreds of car stereos I install every year.

Pros
  • Dash Kit for Single DIN/ISO Radios
Cons
  • Ugly Packaging

Poor fit, finish slightly different from stock dashboard

There are not many single din radio dashboard options for Mazda 3 04-09. bad as there are gaps at the top and bottom and the curved top is not at the same angle/arc as the side strokes. The decorative top pocket doesn't fit either. I will order another kit from Scosche and see if it is better. Scosche Ma1536B installation kit for Mazda 3 from year 2005

Pros
  • High quality ABS construction
Cons
  • Available in black only

Poor fit quality - lighting and electrical

The fit of the item is mediocre at best, the bottom of the main section is too short and only floats at the bottom. After installation, the summer heat warped it, and now there is a gap in the top. It's just a poor quality product. Contacted manufacturer, no reply. Bad quality and bad customer service. Don't buy this. I have purchased Metra kits in the past and they have worked well in the past but I will be replacing this particular item with another brand.

Pros
  • Painted in factory dash color
Cons
  • Upgradable

Great addition to a Pioneer head unit

My comments are based on a DIY install on a 2006 Mazda 3. I have a din Bought Pioneer head unit to add more music listening features and options. I was able to keep the LCD panel just for the weather functions. This adapter fits very well and looks like it came from the factory. An extra pocket is useful to store your phone while driving. I am very happy with this adapter and glad that I was able to use it to replace my factory radio!

Pros
  • Designed and manufactured to precise tolerances resulting in no gaps between dash and kit
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

Doesn't fit well, wobbles a bit

This kit works reasonably well. But the funniest thing about it fits. Not the landing of the system in the dashboard, that's normal, but the landing of the inserts and clips themselves. For example, the decorative inlay around the front of the stereo does not fit properly, it rattles. Also, the LCD replacement case doesn't fit very well and is quite rickety. You can fix these problems with a bit of silicon glue, bits of business card, or whatever, but it would be nice if everything was tight to

Pros
  • ISO mounts with Metra's patented quick release mounts include custom pad
Cons
  • not sure

But it doesn't work perfectly.

Fine. When I installed my Pioneer radio, the front display was very far away in the kit. So when I installed the cage/bezel for the radio I had to bend some metal pins on the front and back of the edge to allow the radio to come out further. There's also a large gap at the bottom of the kit where it meets the climate controls. . It's about 1/2 inch and I have to physically slide it back to fix it. After a few minutes, however, he reappears. I've heard of putting a folded pad of paper underneath

Pros
  • Includes storage bag under the radio
Cons
  • Modern

Form follows function to the point

This dash kit does the basic job: it fills the empty hole left by a big ol' Mazda radio, and keeps it safe Your new replacement stereo wins a design competition against its only known competitor (Scosche MA1536B) by having its empty storage bag UNDER the radio and not above it (looks better, easier to access). One star off because the curvature of the large main body doesn't quite match the shape of the dashboard. Also, the hook on the underside is too weak to hold the climate controls inโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Installation of single radio DIN/ISO dash kit
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
