Description of πŸ“‘ Enhance Your HF Performance with the MFJ Enterprises Original MFJ-931 1.8-30 MHz HF Artificial RF Ground

MFJ-931 creates an artificial RF ground! It resonates a random length of wire thrown along the floor and produces a tuned counterpoise. This ground effectively places your rig near actual earth ground potential even if your rig is on the second floor or higher with no earth ground possible. Also, the MFJ-931 electrically places a far away RF ground directly at your rig -- no matter how far away it is. It reduces the electrical length of the ground connection wire to virtually zero by tuning out its reactance. The MFJ-931 connects between your rig and a random length of wire or a connecting ground wire. Its tuned for maximum ground current using the built-in RF ammeter. The MFJ-931 Artificial RF Ground covers 1.8 - 30 MHz and measures a compact 7.5W x 3.5H x 7D inches.

MFJ-931, junk on stationary radios CB

MFJ-931, hasn't worked well from day one, tonight I had a chance to compare it to the old MFJ 931 and can do it confirm new model is garbage.

Pros
  • Portable Audio & Video
Cons
  • Big and bulky

A worthy substitute for open terrain.

Works well on QRP layers. Improves reception and makes my setup's markers narrower. I bought mine from Revain, not direct from MFJ.

Pros
  • CB Radios & Scanners
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

A very versatile device, especially if your .

A very versatile piece of equipment, especially if your 'shack' is above the basement or you have a long runway. The MFJ-931, along with the coaxial isolation, completely solved the RF feedback problem in my second floor cabin with an 80-10 end-fed angle antenna.

Pros
  • CB and Talkback Radios
Cons
  • Negative Impression

Works very well for this 3rd floor resident!

I live in an apartment on the third floor and have no grounding other than AC ground. I connected my tuner to an artificial earth and the artificial earth to earth on my AC plug. That works great! I've never had trouble with hotspots in my cabin, but I've had trouble hitting things from 10 meters away and causing hum in computer speakers and other equipment. After setting the artificial floor, it is completely deactivated. Thanks very much!

  • Many things

Works great! I was able to balance all ranges from 160 to 10 meters on my 175 foot hanging wire with excellent counterbalance current flow on all but 160 meters. I only have a 33ft counterweight and expect to fix the 160m limit by adding additional, longer counterweight wires. I use an old MFJ handheld tuner and can tune anything from 160 to 10 meters with an SWR around 1.0. I have a lot of noise (typically S9 levels) at my location so reception is an issue and limits DXing, but my random low…

  • CB radios
Cons
  • The list will be long.
