Care must be taken when installing the center drill as it will not align. The thickness is not adjustable, but this is not critical. Eventually the plastic tends to loosen but continues to work well. In general, it's fine for some chores around the house. Not recommended for professional use.

I needed this item for a door. Some reviewers criticized the durability, but mine survived with no damage or issues that would prevent me from using it again, maybe multiple times if needed. The required holes have been accurately placed to install the door lock. It was very easy to use.

The plastic clip is simple but works well. Drill, another story. Not only were both blunt and took forever to drill holes, they were curved enough to wobble. My drill, a big heavy B&D, was swinging around trying to push these things in. Of course, it ended up in big, jagged, crooked holes. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Use this tool carefully and it will serve you well. follow instructions! especially the part above the pilot drill that only extends 1/4″ +/- 1/16″ out of the hole saw. Drill all the holes, remove the tool and finish drilling the holes. This will prevent unnecessary wear of the jig from gouging out with the hole saw. I have made 9 doors with no damage that could affect their continued use. With this level of care, I expect this light to last for many years.

I almost lost my door. The holes were not vertical and the lock did not fit a 1 inch diameter hole. If your door is not a true square, the fixing will not fit and the plastic will sag. Ultimately, I'd rather measure accurately and drill by hand. Hole saws get so hot that it takes a while to drill a hole. I used a shovel to fix a 1" skewed hole. Best to invest in a good 2 1/8 hole saw and 1" putty knife and measure carefully. It literally made things difficult.

This is a very good device and there are a few things you should know about before you buy it. Door handle/bolt hole in line with latch hole. Attaches to the door with 2 screws located where the latch mechanism slides and aligns with the screw holes of the walkway plate. Cons: Pay particular attention to the dimensions: 2.8 x 8.4 x 7 inches The 8.4 inches is especially important if you have a window or decorative carving.
