Very soft, not as thin as stockings or pant socks and much smoother. They fit me (adult) and my 13 year old and my 9 year old. It didn't seem to matter how big/small our feet were, they fit us all, they were above my 9 year old's knee, down to my 13 year old's knee and below my knee. Feels great on skates. My daughter always keeps an extra sock in her skate bag and her friends "borrow" them all the time. We ordered red socks and they know exactly which ones are yours and they always return them! However, the paint in her skates has run out and the lining of her (very expensive Jackson skates) is red. We wanted to sell the skates and they look terrible. My daughter will only use these socks in her figure skates. Two years ago I ordered 2 sets, purple and aqua. They carried themselves very well!
