I love this rug. prevents the bag from moving and protects the roof from scratches. We didn't downsize it as it fitted our small SUV perfectly. I just threw it back over the hatch.

Good carpet. This winter it was under our roof rack during a 2,000+ mile trip. It worked well and was very grippy to keep the bag from moving. It did a great job protecting the paintwork on the roof. I highly recommend it.

Absolute disgust. through the car were about 2 feet shorter and there were no other extras to make them longer. We ended up spending another $700 to add rails to the car at the last minute to make it fit. VERY uncomfortable and put our trip back a day!

This pad is thick enough, strong enough and weather resistant enough to get the job done effectively. If the material is too big, it can be easily trimmed. The material adheres quite well to the roof surface, but does not scratch or wear away the paintwork. The only marks it leaves are water and dirt from use, but these are fairly easy to remove. My guess is that with sufficient use and/or long standing it can leave a heavier mark, but it's unlikely to be something that can't be buffed out…

I know this is for a roof rack but I ended up using it in a caravan and it works GREAT. (almost too well, as I'll explain in a moment). My trailer has a beautiful Baltic Birch retractable galley/kitchen area and when folded down the space is perfect to store a few boxes. But I don't want them to slip or scratch the birch.
