MidWest Extra Wide Swing Safety Expands Review

We use this to keep our dogs on our porch when we have company or when trying to control their muddy/mushy footprints around the house. Easy to install and ideal for our needs. It folds down to a compact size and unfolds for storage, but slides out to accommodate two dogs perfectly.

It started well and looked nice, but after a month of installation it's literally bursting at the seams. The spindles are detached from the frame, the frame is cracked in several places, the gate rarely opens and closes, mostly stays locked. I doubt it will work 6 months without replacement and will not buy it again.

Definitely advertised by description. Works but needed sealing immediately (see photo) and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it lasts a year. Also, the opening mechanism is more like having to disassemble the gate each time than opening the gate. We only use it on some weekends when it's ok in our port. If you plan to use this daily, please buy something else!

I read previous reviews so my expectations were low. The reviews were correct. First the item was damaged as you can see in the attached photos. Second, the center bolts used to connect the two pieces were too long, so it was flexible in the middle, not stiff and strong like it should be. Assembly was easy and fixing to the wall was easy. Works as intended and keeps kids and pets where they shouldn't be. Perfect for my mom's driveway. Bought another one for my niece and her one year old baby. This is the longest gate I have found and at a fair price. We are happy. Over the past 2 years we have had other goals which have been amazing for our 60+ lb dog but over time they started to ease up. UPDATE: I've had the gate for 4 months now and it's barely hanging on the wall. It didn't come with anchors and when small kids and dogs move it around when it's open it just won't hold up. Now I buy much more expensive gates hoping they are stronger without destroying my walls. I just installed the gate which was easy.
