Finally 802.3af/at output on Mikrotik

I use 802.3af for VoIP phones. This device can consume PoE plus power while providing enough power to 4 Polycom VVX devices, all of which can make calls at the same time. Pretty incredible. Definitely what I've been waiting for for years.

Pros
  • PoE output: 802.3at
Cons
  • You could have chosen a newer model

Good but limited

This is a great little router that is an incredible value. MikroTik devices are not for beginners and definitely require a solid understanding of networking principles. RouterOS features are incredibly advanced, and I don't know of any other device in this price range that actually offers the same enterprise-class features that are available in it. Unfortunately I had to send mine back as it didn't have the power to handle a symmetrical gigabit WAN connection - I'm getting close to the 600/600…

Pros
  • hEX PoE is a five-port Gigabit Ethernet router for locations where wireless connectivity is not required.

Excellent, like most MikroTik products.

Available This is an amazing little router and for the price you can't beat its features (GigabitEthernet, PoE, RouterOS L4, etc.). The power supply is larger than the router, which challenges the compactness of MikroTik RouterBoard devices. Can be powered by a 1.5A wall outlet instead of a large power adapter if you don't use all PoE interfaces.

Pros
  • It is affordable, small and easy to use, yet equipped with a very powerful 800MHz processor that supports all advanced configurations supported by RouterOS. Fewer power supplies and cables to worry about! Max current is 1A per port, Ethernet
Cons
  • Update
