Wow - should have been sooner!

I have a 65 gallon seawater tank and use it to measure salinity. I can only say WOW! I should have gotten this sooner. After a simple no-salt calibration, this accurately reflects the salinity and temperature of my water. This is much better and more reliable than a swing arm hygrometer. I've had it for 4 months now and do weekly water changes. I haven't had to change batteries yet. Thank you to previous reviewers whose advice I based my purchase decision on. This is an amazing addition and you

An absolute must for saltwater aquariums!

This digital refractometer appears to be very well built, extremely easy to use and calibrate and comes with sample calibration solutions (distilled water) and salinity test liquid to ensure it is calibrated. Yes, you have to calibrate it every time you turn it on, why wouldn't you want to? I used a hydrometer on my 55 gallon setup, it always read 1.023 sg and that's what I wanted. I will be dealing with corals so I wanted to make sure my water is 1,025 sg for them to thrive. I checked the…

Feels "laboratory ", an excellent refractometer.

Exactly what it says, accurate refractometer. Compared to my analog refractometer, it is very stable and provides accurate room temperature readings, which is critical for automatic temperature calibration. The device feels very solid and the way the bottom battery compartment opens is waterproof. I like the fact that the device does a little "self-test" when you turn it on, which shows the remaining battery life, along with a few other screens. I really like this device, for those who want to…

So easy and quick: Refractometer

It's hard to get a good review. firstly, for such a price, the ma800 housing should be included. Now it's difficult. Vacation easy and uncomplicated. I had no problems with zeroing. The problem is the verification. I see the same with the reviews on YouTube. The test solution is labeled 1.025. Each measurement I get is 1.027, one out of 10 is 1.026. Now if I take the same 1.025 solution and use it with my refractometer. I get a reading of 1.025. When I use my solution to test the refractometer…

Just doesn't work properly

The first device tested the supplied calibration solution (1.025 SG) to 1.023 SGI. There's a bottle of another calibration solution that's the most popular here (1.026 SG) and he tested it at 1.028 in Milwaukee. I have calibrated several times with distilled water making sure the lens was clean each time and also waited 1 minute before testing and got the above results each time. My reef tank was also tested at SG 1,028. On my $20 lensed refractometer all calibration solutions tested accurately

Do you have a seawater tank? BUY THIS!

This thing is damn cool. Donate other hand-held instruments for measuring salinity (refractometers, hydrometers). you won't need them anymore. My video shows typical measurements. Calibration EXACTLY LIKE, but with steam distilled water! Who doesn't get distilled water? No tiny screwdrivers or fiddling with light sources. For 4 months I have been dealing with the problem of salinity in a reef aquarium. Eventually I had 4 different readings +/- 3% on two instruments at the same time. The…

Perfect fit for a seawater tank

I'm just starting my first seawater tank and have read all over the forums that refractometers are much more accurate than a typical $10 hydrometer. Mid-range refractometers can be found for around $50, but accurate readings require precise lighting conditions. During my research I came across this digital refractometer and started reading reviews online. People seem very happy so I decided to give it a try. Especially since I will be using this on a weekly basis I need something reliable and…
