Difficult to connect

This is a good hand held remote but it was very difficult to connect to my hand. I called Minnkota support and they said you need to build more muscle. I ended up heating the female part with a hair dryer and was finally able to fuse them together. It shouldn't fall apart on its own.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Has some flaws

Good switch, installation problems are possible.

Nice little switch, but I'd love it even more if the body was symmetrical rather than flat on one side. I had to remove the switch and rotate the case 180 degrees to customize it for my specific application. I felt the switch itself wasn't very strong, but time will tell.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Vulgarity

overpriced but works

This is a 3 position instant on/off, press and hold switch. It fits into a special slot on deck 40. For me the case was useless as I plug it into the switch panel. I will also get rid of the plug end to route the wires under the windlass. The switch does not light up at all. To me, this was an overpriced switch that I could have put together a lot cheaper with more features, but I think it works.

Pros
  • Easy to set up
Cons
  • Not the best

Lightweight, comfortable and well-made remote switch for your sailor.

I have owned Deckhand for 8 seasons now and it has always been a distraction to drop anchor or weigh it when I wanted to move. This is great, now I have it installed on the left side of my helmet and I can easily insert or remove the anchor without getting out of my seat or while adjusting to that perfect spot. A very high quality 25 foot cable will take you almost anywhere on the boat to install a remote switch.

Pros
  • Convenient item
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Deckhand 40 Remote Switch

The Deckhand 40 remote switch will not work with a Deckhand 25 anchor as they are two completely different switches: the Deckhand 40 remote switch has 3 wires and the Deckhand 25 switch has 5 wires. But you can buy reg. switch and it works. I BOUGHT OILS 40 REMOTE CONTROL BECAUSE SOMEBODY OTHER HAS IT when they bought sailor 25 elec.anchor. I purchased this item from amazon.com on 10/08/13. I had to buy the Switch directly from MinnKota. I ALSO HAVE THE WIRING DIAGRAM FROM YOU!

Pros
  • Great Price
Cons
  • Clarity

Sailor Minnkota 40

Anchor mate up/exposed 30 lbs. Anchor as advertised. One thing that happened to me was the propeller holding the horseshoe anchor failed and lost the propeller and anchor in the lake. When installing, I thought that this might be the only weak point in the entire system. DOUBLE check that the sucker is NOT part of the install documentation for any use I might add. You may ask how I know it was a screw, good question. The answer is that a horseshoe connector was invented with an anchor cableโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Negative impression

Was an engineer involved in the design?

#1 I'm usually a big fan of Minn Kota. I have Terrova with iPilot, Minn Kota Battery Box, Deckhand 40 and this switch. Yes, it's definitely better than manually lifting a 30-pound anchor. I have a problem in general design. With one word. Terrible! If you want to mount it on a flat surface with no exposed cables, you actually have to cut a notch in the back so the cable isn't visible (a minor issue, but a problem nonetheless). The biggest problem is that for the plug end of the cable you haveโ€ฆ

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • something different
