Review on ๐ŸŽฃ Top-Rated MinnKota Deckhand 40 Remote Switch in Black โ€“ Ultimate Convenience and Control by Kenneth Foster

Was an engineer involved in the design?

#1 I'm usually a big fan of Minn Kota. I have Terrova with iPilot, Minn Kota Battery Box, Deckhand 40 and this switch. Yes, it's definitely better than manually lifting a 30-pound anchor. I have a problem in general design. With one word. Terrible! If you want to mount it on a flat surface with no exposed cables, you actually have to cut a notch in the back so the cable isn't visible (a minor issue, but a problem nonetheless). The biggest problem is that for the plug end of the cable you have to drill a much larger hole in the dashboard and in the floor (mine is pontoon mounted) than necessary. I don't know anyone else but after putting everything together it took Circus Strongman almost to connect the cable to the connector on the Deckhand 40. If they had an electrical engineer or a mechanical engineer involved in developing this thing. Now they must be unemployed. Once installed, it works fine, but remember that installation isn't as easy as it seems.
