For all your needs!

I need it. I'll need to rework the face a bit and cross the Payne a bit, but I expect the new hammer to have a good grip and feel good in the hand.

good hammer on ball hammers

This hammer is amazing and the fact that the hammer is thicker than most hammers makes it even more affordable. Trust me when I say this. I'm a blacksmith in the backyard. lot of time swinging that hammer.

Not the best for blacksmiths, but damn good for everything else

Nice lightweight hammer, well made and strong. The only downside is that there are rings on the face of the hammer, which isn't great since I got it for forging, but will help make it more prone to breaking in other percussion uses.

Requires thorough cleaning

If you buy this hammer thinking you only need to clean the edges, you are seriously mistaken. There are processing marks on the front that will leave an apple print on anything you hit with it. You'll also need a bottle of slime or something similar, since the stickers they put on the handle will fall apart if you try to remove them.

Good for beginners, best hand tools

Pretty good hammer for a beginner blacksmith. There were some machining marks on the front that needed erasing (okay, they do NOT need to be removed as they were quite small, but they show up a bit in the finished pieces) and I felt the handle had to be except for one piece shaved. Also, the varnish on the handle is great for blistering, so you'll need to sand it down and treat the wood with linseed oil. However, I've been using this hammer for almost a year and it does the job.

Great hammer but faulty

This hammer is great. The only issue I have that seems to be an issue for most buyers is that it doesn't have a flat surface. Reading the other reviews I thought they would go crazy over little things but the face was pretty extreme. It had layers of concentric circles with what could only be described as a nipple in the middle. It was very pronounced, as if they had not finished after editing. Luckily I just brought the angle grinder to my face to smooth it out, but others who don't have a…

Annoying face and edge pattern in new condition otherwise great

I've been using this hammer for about 2 months now. The pointed end has a large radius, but this can be quite normal. The face came with a pattern of concentric circles and sharp edges around the face. It leaves unsightly marks on your work. Now that I've worn the hammer a lot, those marks are mostly gone. Apart from signs of use, there is hardly any damage. I'm not very experienced but the face seems hard enough to pound. Considering the price I am very happy with my hammer! I would suggest…
