I'm not sure if the ones I've used in the past were just "well broken in" or something, but they don't seem to be as smooth as the Mitutoyos I've been once used. However, they are great and do their job well. Just don't feel the same quality.
I've been a machinist for over 30 years and the most important thing for me in telescopic instruments is feel and locking. These sensors offer very good feel and grip, but not as good as the Starrett. I appreciate long arms for the type of processing I do. Overall it's a good value considering the price of the Starrett.
I've been using it every day at work for about a month and I'm not happy with it. The legs have a very weak spring effect from the start. They often close. The set screw is not positive. We are coarse threads. There are very few similarities in size. So often I make a small mistake when measuring holes and waterways. The smaller caliber barely rubs and the larger one doesn't fit. I'm also not a fan of dual posable legs. I would prefer if they sell a model with a fixed leg. I believe they are of
