I have used this product before to apply a green copper patina to a round zinc plated manger. It was insanely cool. Now I'm going to use it to treat rust on a huge rustic metal mailbox. phew when i get to it. this is how it will look like. "Wow Martha, we NEED to be in Kansas because it looks like our mailbox from our farm 50 years ago!" but they won't be in Kansas, they'll be at my house.

combined with Iron Paint creates an incredibly bright rusty orange finish. I have used this material for many years and you can apply it to a variety of surfaces. You can create different patterns/textures depending on how you apply it (with a sponge, brush, bottle spray, etc.) and whether you apply it horizontally or vertically (which creates streaks, but it might look cool). love this product!

I love this line of products and have been using them in my work for a number of years. The problem with ordering activators is that they are liquid and expensive. Even though they come in a sealed plastic bag, they leak EVERY TIME! That last bottle wasn't terrible, but still a bit of a mess in a sealed pouch. Tape the cap as a precaution. You have a 5 star product but leaky caps are wasteful and frustrating.

This is my second attempt at creating faux rust on a metal roof with this material. The first attempt was a complete failure as I didn't remove the galvanizing from the roof before painting it with metallic black paint. The second round should have worked as I removed the material, washed, dried and painted with 2+ coats of black iron paint as directed. I've always loved the rust effects of Modern Masters, but I ran out of the activator. I buy the Modern Masters kit which comes with a small bottle of activator but it's never enough to cover everything that can be done with two bottles (foundation and straightener).
