🔧 Moen 1222B Repair Part: Single Handle Posi-Temp Replacement Cartridge for Reliable Plumbing Fixes Review

My brother installed this new cartridge with no problems. Just make sure that when you pull out the old cartridge, all the rubber clips on the sides are removed from the inside of the tube. My brother was a plumber so he knew but said he also had lots of spare cartridges which the plumber didn't know about and left them there then you don't get an airtight seal.

I moved into my house in 2017. A year later the shower faucet wouldn't close so I had to call a plumber and change the cartridge. It's 2021 and I had to replace it AGAIN. This time it was because the hot water didn't get hot from time to time. The sink worked fine so I know it's not a line. And the new cartridge does not turn off immediately. drops for a few minutes. At some point it will stop. But it's really annoying.

First of all I'm not a professional plumber. I strongly recommend the following when replacing: 1: Take notes/photos when removing the parts to properly reinstall them. 2: Use the Moen removal tool, sold separately. Makes removing an old cartridge a breeze, while it's almost impossible without this tool. 3. After removing the old cartridge, use a flashlight to make sure no parts remain inside and remove it before inserting a new cartridge. Eventually I fixed many of the summer leaks. Very happy

I used this to replace a Moen "109272" cartridge that was installed 15 years ago. Had to buy a cartridge ejector to take it out as the original cartridge really stuck in place. Installation itself was pretty easy thanks to the included lube. This cartridge runs smoother day and night than the one it replaced. However, the insides are very fragile; You need to make sure it's deployed straight. I damaged another replacement while trying to reinstall the cartridge.

When the handle becomes stiff or the hot/cold water setting is difficult to adjust, the cartridge usually needs to be replaced. I have replaced all PosiTemp shower grips with 1222 with good results. "B" simply means it was part of a contractor's package, not an individual sale. You will receive all the same parts in a "B" package.
