🌱 Mold Star 15 Silicone Rubber for Slow Moldmaking - Trial Unit Review

This is the second time I've ordered Mold Star 15 from Amazon and both times I've received Dragon Skin Fx Pro. I'm trying to fill out a form that I ran out of materials when filling it out. I can't use Dragon Skin when I started Mold Star 15. I'm afraid to place another order if I keep getting the wrong product. In fact, there are 2 different labels on the packaging. Very deceptive. It's not "value for money" if you get the wrong product

The product works great but be aware if you plan to sculpt something large or multiple items this will not help you at all. I had FOUR items 3 inches high. and 5 very small flat design molds and I've only been able to successfully cast TWO 3" designs and one of my flat designs. Spend a total of $150 to cast these small items in my opinion. smh. It's very handy and Beginner-friendly but EXPENSIVE if you plan to mold large or multiple things.

Follow Instructions. Stir all ingredients before using. After measuring, stir well and mix until a uniform color is obtained. All of this mixing causes a lot of air to get into the product, which eventually shows up as a poor finish. Use some kind of trough when pouring material. Pour the mixture down the shaft slowly and don't use an angle that is too steep. Don't pour a lot of material at once. 3 test devices ordered; each bottle in each test unit was only 2/3 full - so basically I paid for three units and got two full test units. Not sure if Smooth-On is skimming the cream or the seller, but I'm not happy (in seller's defense, the foil seals on all bottles appeared to be intact). I bought this trial kit to play around with pouring concrete, after 3D printing, sanding and finishing a master mold of a small planter I built a mold, glued the part and poured the right amount (about 2 /3 of this trial set) and then fill out the form. These are great kits for beginners and intermediate riders. If you need a small quantity to test, this is the perfect way to buy. I particularly like the slow cure time of this silicone as I don't have to use a pressure vessel or degasser to rid the mold of air bubbles. I just tapped the sides of the acrylic mold for about a minute and let it cure overnight (normal curing time is 4 hours). I want to start by saying I didn't have enough to fully cover my sculpture. Mixing the two parts was very easy. I secured my sculpture in the box and slowly poured it to the side and then realized I didn't have enough product so I took out my sculpture with my bare hands and put it in another container and poured the silicone mixture into the new container, to make a bit of a mess of myself that was surprisingly easy to clean up. I have tried many mold silicones from several brands and so far that this is my favorite for several reasons.1. Long pot life means there is enough time to mix and pour before everything starts to thicken. If you start making your own molds like I did, you'll find dozens of ways to mix things up.
