Driveability restored

First measure the current height of the car with the old dampers, install the new ones by raising the car just over 3/4 inch. Walk, drive, the difference in driving performance is huge. Would buy the uniform again if I had to.

Smooth ride at a great price

These shock absorbers ride very well and by that I mean chic. They're definitely on the soft side, which is great for where I live. You glide over bumps in the road while maintaining good control. They're definitely not performance oriented, so if you're looking for improved handling and a gritty ride, they're not for you.

Price, quality, smoothness

Exceptionally high quality and flawless handling, shockingly low price. Packaged nicely to prevent damage and installation couldn't be simpler. If you are replacing shock absorbers for yourself or need to sell/trade your car and are on a tight budget or just don't want to spend a fortune, then these shock absorbers are for you.

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Unacceptably better shock, strut and suspension performance

Mounted on the rear of the 05 Grand Cherokee Laredo. I've gotten away with cheap shock absorbers on cars for most of my life. With the Jeep, it was a complete failure. Even before I was 1 mile on them after jumping on the rear bumper it took me 3 jumps to stop. Unacceptable. This isn't an SUV - just drove 3,000 miles and the regular whoops and ripples on the freeway made the rear end pop. There will be an update.

Great for 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This was easy to remove and replace. One bolt each at the top and bottom that threads into a welded nut on the frame was all that had to be unscrewed. A few hours earlier I sprayed WD-40 on the bottom bolts. I used an electric shock to remove the bottom screws. Very easy. The top screws are not corroded at all as they are well hidden in a weather protected position. At first glance it looks like the bottom nut needs to be held in place with a wrench. It is not. The bottom nut is welded on, so…

Expected more from Monroe Shocks.

I should have read the reviews but being a well known brand I was confident in buying the products. Unfortunately, what I unpacked didn't convince me. The 105,000-mile Mopar shocks were harder to compress than these new Monroe shocks, and the Monroes recovered to full length very quickly, showing that they wouldn't dampen rebound very well. The shock absorbers are quite small compared to the originals. I found the shock stiffened a few times after inflation, but after installing and sitting for
