🚗 Mothers 05724 California Gold Spray Wax: Superior 24 oz. Car Care Solution Review

For years I have used Mother's Reflections Spray Wax, a thick but easy to apply spray that effortlessly left a smooth finish with a nice shine. Unfortunately Mother's has discontinued this product and they suggested I try this new very thin spray that doesn't leave a slippery finish nor a good shine. This new product is definitely not worth the time to use.

If you think every brand has their own special formula, think again. They're all good (until it rains), use a very similar formula, and the chemicals are made by a third-party factory. So the product itself is good. No, great. But buy it at a discount like me ($3+). It lasts until the next rain, and if it is very hot and sunny then 3 days (destroyed by UV rays).

I don't wash my wife's car very often because we don't have salty roads in winter and it's always in the garage. He doesn't hole up in the office parking lot 5 days a week. However, after a few months without washing, the car will puddle in the rain as it should. I just clean with water and a damp microfiber cloth. After rinsing, I throw away most of the standing water, then come back and often use the nut squeeze from the mic. I wipe the windows with unused microfiber.

NOTE: Your paint should be shiny to begin with; It's not a cleaning wax, it's just a "touch-up wax". In general it works great! The car shines like crazy and the paint looks very smooth. Throw a microfiber towel on the hood and it slides right over it :) Super easy to turn on and off; It literally took me 10 minutes to do the whole car. Good price. I can't say anything about durability. In any case, the cheapest aerosol waxes like this are not made to last. I use a quality sealer for basic protection every few months. I use this spray wax after every weekly wash. It adds some protection, fills in light curls and doubles as a drying agent. Cheap, simple, smells good. Lasts a week, like any halfway decent spray wax. Over the counter products everywhere from moms, megaars, premium waxes from turtles, eagles, etc. are good enough.

I have switched to this wax from Mother's Instant Detailer and use it every time I have my car. It doesn't offer the long-lasting shine of traditional waxes that are rubbed in and dried, but it takes around 10 minutes to finish the car and the results are impressive. I use a microfiber towel to apply the product after lightly spraying the section and then immediately apply a second dry microfiber towel to buff the wax. Nice shine but can't say I like it. It leaves streaks and requires more microfiber passes to buff than other products I use. The atomizer dispenses a lot of product, so be prepared for that. I did one half of my hood and moved on to the other half and ended up having to redo the first half because there was too much spatter.
