Ideal for spare parts

I was looking for an easy way to read the RPM on a first generation Dodge Cummins. After a failed attempt on another brand this tachometer fitted the bill - works well and is reasonably accurate as far as I can tell. The only thing I would like to see for a slight improvement is a smaller version of this exact model. At 3 3/8 inches it's a bit large for my application but for the price I couldn't refuse.

The tachometer fits perfectly in the cut-out in the dashboard.

Very nice looking, easy to install once you understand where to connect the generator cable. The RPM pointer is very stable while the tractor is running. Deducted a star because the instructions don't indicate which way to turn the potentiometer to set the speed. When I first started the tractor, the needle got stuck, so turn it off immediately to avoid damaging the tool. Then I had to guess which way to turn the setting before rebooting. Happy. Cheap: electronic device

We replaced the engine on an old tractor and the new engine didn't have a tachometer. So we have this one that works by hooking it up to a generator. The generator already had a third connection, so all we had to do was make the connections. One wire for power, one for ground and one signal wire for the 3rd blade of the generator.
