Best to go OEM for engine parts

Mortorcraft is my pick for reliability. Many parts today have a lifetime guarantee and seem to me to be of poor quality. They seem so cheap that you can afford to keep replacing them until you get tired of paying your mechanic to replace them, which is why I think an OEM part is your best bet. A guarantee is usually not required.

Pros
  • price
Cons
  • bits and pieces

Fit 2001 taurus lx vin 2 best design, pay extra!

Just buy this one. The non-original ones have a hole at the top for a spring that lets dirt through and makes them wear out faster. The old one pulled the belt at an angle causing the water pump bearing to fail. The water pump was still needed, the impeller has almost completely disappeared! Be sure to apply anti-seize lubricant to the mounting screw.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Quality OEM replacement.

This is an exact match to the original on our vehicle. I used to buy replacement belt tensioners from local auto parts stores but found that they were made with plastic pulleys and weak springs and didn't last long. Just make sure you use a Torx "TP" bit when installing and not a standard Torx "T" bit (TP-45 maybe?) - it'll save you some frustration and bruised joints!

Pros
  • High test results for grip and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
