OK if you don't want to use the returned item

The Motorcraft box was badly dented and sealed with tape - as if someone had torn it open at both ends and then taped it back together for a return. The filter looked in acceptable shape so I went ahead and used it.

Pros
  • Finally bought it
Cons
  • I'm getting nervous

OEM Motorcraft Air Cleaner and Accessories

Nothing works or matches your Ford product better than Motorcraft parts. Why would anyone buy an aftermarket air filter when OEM quality is under $20 is beyond me. The next day on my doorstep and easily connected to the branch at twice the price. No, it's understandable.

Pros
  • Easy Installation
Cons
  • Almost Everything Works

Can't go wrong with OE

I always prefer OE air filters; This one fits well and feels solid, with a thick filter element, lots of pleats and heavy metal mesh. There are negative experiences with aftermarket filters that do not provide an exact fit or are flimsy in design unlike OEM parts. Never had a problem with the Motorcraft brand.

Pros
  • Cool
Cons
  • No Performance

Not what I paid for

I opened the box and found a cheaper Fram air filter inside. I installed it anyway because there is no time to take care of the return. My guess is that someone replaced the Motorcraft filter with a fram and then sent the box back. The difference in cost is small, so the motivation behind it confused me. In any case, Revain has problems with the quality control of auto parts.

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • Price piggy bank

Is that really Motorcraft?

The filter I got from my Ford dealer looks exactly like the picture. Black rubber at both ends, silicone(?) spiral and "Made in America" lettering. The one I got from Revain is in a Motorcraft box, red on both ends, no coil and marked Made in Mexico. It fits, so I think it will work, but if it's actually a Motorcraft I don't know.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
