Motorcraft FT103 Automatic Transmission Filter Review

Filter set ordered through Revain and received very quickly. After pulling out the old filter, I found it didn't fit. The shape and holes were the same, but the bolt hole flange was not as deep as the original filter. The old filter's screw hole was 1/2 inch deeper. The screw was the same diameter, but I didn't have a longer screw that would fit, so I had to put the old filter back in. The gearbox was replaced once so they may have put the wrong filter in when they did.

I would give this 1 star except for the quality of the Motorcraft gasket. This is the same gasket that Ford used on my 95 Explorer on the production line. After 4 transmission seals I have to say this is what you need. The metal seals are embedded in a thick cork gasket that will not leak! However, while the filter looks good, it doesn't have a recessed stud mount. As mentioned in another review. In short, Home Depot sells an M6 x 50mm hex bolt for 63 cents, just long enough to hold this filter
