OEM Fit Fit for 2008 Ford V6 4.0 SOHC Explorer XLT 4DR. Contains a metal gasket that does not require sealant. Sealant can be inexpensively applied around the water pump to hold the gasket in place during installation to prevent it from moving and to keep the bolt holes aligned during reassembly.

Wide range of replacement water pumps. I replaced the water pump on my 1997 Explorer. It's a bit more expensive than other brands. but should last as long as the original pump. It includes a metal gasket. A thin layer of Permatex or RTV must be used on the seal.

Perfect for my 2004 Explorer 4.0L. The factory pump had 240,000 miles before it started leaking. It took some time to swap out and is certainly not fun, so I won't skimp on non-motorcycle parts. I went all out on the repair and also replaced the radiator, all hoses, thermostat and housing. I hope to get another 80-100k from all of this.

The water pump comes with a metal gasket but mine was slightly dented in transit but with the gasket (black) there is no leakage yet. As for the water pump, it's solidly built and made in the USA, the middle bearing says it's made in Italy, but I've seen other motor pumps made in China. In summary you won't regret it but also hope it lasts 10+ years like the original just wish it was a little cheaper. The picture shows an old water pump.
