This water pump is driven by the Ford Edge timing chain. So if it fails, it can mix water into the oil. This is a fairly labor intensive replacement job so it is best to use Motorcraft factory parts when making the repair.

Why FORD put this water pump in the engine and driven by the timing chain is really stupid. Replacing this pump costs $2,000 and takes 10 1/2 hours. And when I got the old pump the bearings were fine, it was two little cord-like spacers that had failed!

Perfect fit for my 07 Edge, it is exactly the same as the original I took out. The original was 130k. Hoping to get as much (or more) of it, the old gasket broke and was leaking oil and coolant through the outlet port behind the alternator. Now it doesn't flow and I put 20,000 on it with no problems. The work was hard so you have to go to the factory if you don't want to go back there all 30,000.
