Description of πŸ”Œ Motorola MG7550 Modem WiFi Router Combo with Power Boost - Approved by Comcast Xfinity, Cox, Charter Spectrum, and More - Ideal for Cable Plans Up to 300 Mbps - AC1900 WiFi Speed - 16x4 DOCSIS 3.0

16x4 DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem plus a built-in AC1900 Dual Band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) WiFi Gigabit Router with four Gigabit (GigE) Ethernet ports, a firewall DFS, Power Boost, and more. This product is recommended for actual cable Internet service speeds up to 375 Mbps. A Broadcom cable modem chipset provides security from Denial of Service attacks. WiFi performance is exceptionally good, even in multi-dwelling units with lots of WiFi noise from neighbors. DFS and Power Boost are key. Requires cable Internet service. Approved by and for use with Comcast Xfinity and Xfinity X1, Cox, Charter Spectrum, Time Warner Cable, Suddenlink, WOW. CableOne and other cable service providers. Eliminate cable modem rental fees up to 156 dollars per year. (Savings are shown for Xfinity and vary by cable service provider. No cable modem is compatible with fiber optic, DSL, or satellite services from Verizon, AT&T, CenturyLink, Frontier, and others. Model MG7550 has no phone jack.). Built-in high-speed Wi-Fi router with AC1900 Wi-Fi, and Power Boost, and DFS provides Internet access for Wi-Fi devices including smartphones, notebooks, tablets, game stations, HDTVs, Amazon Echo, Google Home, Chromecast, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and AppleTV. Four 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports provide wired connections to Windows and Mac computers, HDTVs, game stations, streaming TV devices, and other Ethernet-capable devices. Wireless Power Boost adds high-performance WiFi power amplifiers to boost the wireless signals to the legal limit, giving a significant boost in speed and range. The router can work on WiFi DFS frequencies, unlike most routers, so it is much less vulnerable to WiFi interference from neighbors. In addition, AnyBeam beamforming at both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies focuses the signal on wireless clients to further enhance performance and range. Integrating the cable modem and router creates a reliable connection that reduces unwieldy wiring and power adapter clutter while conserving desk space. The vertical design minimizes shelf space and improves cooling while looking great in any home or office. A two-year warranty plus rugged lightning and power surge circuits protect your investment.

Works great with Spectrum/TWC

When we canceled our TV service (then twc) we kept the internet. We pay for 200Mbps but we keep getting latency and issues with the modem/router we rented from them. As soon as we bought it, our speed constantly increased to 226-229 Mbit/s (like I said, only pay for 200). We have no issues connecting to Wi-Fi, no disconnects or lags. Like it a lot! We've been using it for a little over a month and haven't had to reboot or anything. Very happy. If you have spectrum you need to call when you get…

5GHz band stopped working within a year

Update - Motorola has sent a replacement unit. This device loses internet signal completely from time to time and has a weak 5GHz signal when working. I contacted Motorola support and they told me there was nothing I could do. I have had this device for less than a year and it has stopped working properly. The 5 GHz band just disappeared from the list of networks on my devices. . I called Motorola, they said that it was necessary to change. There is no solution to this problem. They said they…

Amazingly fast modem with exceptional Wi-Fi.

Motorola has a winner. That thing is so well built. Full WiFi signal strength throughout the house. Download speed 240 Mbit/s (charge for 150 Mbit/s). It has the entire left, right and top sides covered with air vents. All modems should be like this. The heatsink is on the main processor, 3 heatsinks are on the radio and the chip (undefined). 3 internal dual band antennas that are well placed. The modem will boot up in 30 seconds or less. Typical Docsis modems boot in 2-3 minutes. The user…

Poor modem security

There is a major security vulnerability in this modem that allows the ISP to change the default administrator password (factory reset) during deployment, thereby denying you access to its configuration options. Motorola support is aware of this issue and even knew exactly what my ISP changed the admin password to ("badjuju9" for all Metrocast users). Motorola's excuse is that they have to give the ISP access to the firmware during deployment, which makes sense. However, the default…

Here Motorola has landed a real hit. This is an awesome router!

There's a reason this router gets such good reviews. It's a well-made (mine was made in America, by the way, although some others report other regions of manufacture), well-functioning router/Wi-Fi combo that fits the bill. I switched to this router from a router I rented from my cable provider because the WiFi on this system (an Arris router less than three years old) was so poor and unreliable that it was causing all sorts of problems caused. When I connected and initialized this device, the…
