Great Product: Auto & Vehicle Electronics

High Quality USB Cable/Connector. Fits perfectly as a cigarette lighter plug. Used it to connect to the car radio to connect my Android car phone.

Pros
  • Great Product
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Not great but not terrible

I used this to install a plug for my Pioneer radio. I use it to connect my phone to Apple Carplay. It works well overall, but the nut on the back that attaches it to where you install it is flimsy. No matter how carefully I tried to tighten it, it pulled out.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Minorities

Used to install Head Unit

This connector is installed for use with a JVC KW-M740BT Head Unit which I replaced in my 2008 F150 about a year ago. I was able to drill a small hole in the dash and install this connector and it looks like it came from the factory. In my experience, so far there have been no problems with it and with Android Auto.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • No Automatic

Great way to update an old car

I swapped out the cigarette lighter in my '05 Jeep Grand Cherokee for this one. That works great. I replaced the radio with a Pioneer and it had a USB port on the back. I connected it to that. Now I can connect my phone to the radio and charge it at the same time. The price is great too.

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Empty

Great for remote access to USB ports on the back of aftermarket head units

Fits in my dash as expected in place of a standard 12 volt cigarette lighter. I used this to extend the USB port from the back of the head unit to the dash. I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 because the rubber cover that came with it could have been done better.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Unusable features

I installed two of these flush where the cigarette lighter and 12v power supply used to be in my 2008's were, they're fine, but the big plastic nuts that hold them (sandwiched between dash stuff) you can't overtighten, or they'll just skip threads and loosen. I wish they were metal or narrower

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons

Works great, no issues with Apple CarPlay.

I bought this socket to replace the existing power socket in my car so I can connect it to the receiver and use Apple CarPlay. Fits well and I had no problems with the cable. It works great with the latest version of iOS. The socket-to-panel nut is plastic, so be careful not to over-tighten.

Pros
  • price change

I installed two of them flush where the cigarette lighter and 12v power supply used to be in my 2008 were. Good again, but big are the plastic nuts they use to hold them in place (sandwich between the dash material). You can't overtighten, or they'll just skip the threads and come loose. I wish they were metal or narrower

Pros
  • Decent Performance
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

looks good and works well

the biggest problem is tightening the plastic nut as some others have said. I replaced my standard bushings with 2 of these and even the bottom profile nut was very difficult to tighten as the edges kept banging against the back of the panel. Eventually I started twisting the front to tighten it while holding the nut on the back. I had no trouble taking them off, but it took me a lot of effort to get them tight enough so they wouldn't rock.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Expensive
