The cable received has a manufacturing defect (residue of plastic in the USB connector). Despite photographic evidence that it did not match what was listed, the seller assumed my unit was not compatible but eventually refunded the money. This cable works for me in both my Go Pro 3 and Go Pro 4. I haven't noticed any problems, hiss or pops. Since I kept reading these "bad" reviews, they all tried to use this Rhode Vid mic (never heard of it). I don't use the aforementioned microphone and I have no problem, my microphone is cheap from China. So I'm saying understand, but not with the mic that these people are using to say they have problems.

DO NOT BUY THIS ADAPTER! This adapter absolutely ruined all of my documentation on my cross country motorcycle ride and my GoPro Hero 4. Sound seemed good at first but I filmed on the go. I really didn't have a chance to see the audio. When I finally did, I was horrified to find that all of my audio had the interference noise of crickets. ! WARNING ! "NO REFUND" POLICY! This cable WILL NOT WORK for my GoPro Hero4 setup with Rode VideoMic Pro. The first time I had no sound from the mic and just a horrible hiss from the ground loop. The second time I connected to the network first before turning on the camera and got at least "somewhat" muffled audio, but the hiss was so strong that it just couldn't be used. If there isn't a magic setting I don't know about, then I've lost $7. It could be worse, but I just threw $7 down the drain.
