Already broken for welding and soldering

I have used this gun less than a dozen times and today it no longer works. It makes a very loud noise and blows smoke. I had problems with this from the beginning, as it was difficult to set the temperature and always blew very, very hot. Sorry, but I would not recommend this product.

Hot hot hot! in Heat Guns

I needed a heat gun to make a ton of solder joints. I liked this one because it sits on a bench and has the added benefit of a foldable metal brace to prevent falls. What I use it for, it works great. A metal mount for shrinking or soldering helps a lot. There is also a paint remover, but I haven't tried it yet. All in all it does what it's supposed to and looks decent. And sits very firmly on the workbench. I'm happy with that.

Doesn't turn off when turned on Welding and soldering

So in general it seems to be heating as it should, although the heating slider is buggy. If you put it in the off position it won't turn off and sometimes it won't even switch from warm to hot. It's fresh out of the box. The only way to turn it off is to unplug it. The hassle of returning things and getting a replacement or refund is just more than I want to handle, so I'll be content with just turning it off. The description is correct so I gave it two stars anyway, but a faulty switch and…

Maybe I got a defective one.

I bought it some time ago and just started using it. This is nowhere near the temperature shown on the heat gun. In the first picture the heat gun is heating up to the display, in the second picture I am taking the temperature with the Thermapen, if you are a chef you know that Thermapen is basically the gold standard for instant thermometers. I have to crank it up to 400 degrees to get 230-240. Update: 9/20/20 I pulled out this heat gun this morning. Now I only use it to make heat shrink…

  • Without automatic

I was really excited about this unit based on the reviews, but my unit only heated up to about 200-210 degrees Fahrenheit. I've used a trusty laser thermometer and even shot the laser inside/directly at the heating coils and EVEN THAT only recorded 200-210 degrees. The thing just doesn't work. The temperature setting might say 600 degrees, but it was actually only 200. Also, the temperature doesn't necessarily stay stable no matter how you set it, which doesn't really matter since the actual…
