Solid object on barrels and barrels

Heavy "metal" object. Fits well on the torpedo barrel, no problem screwing it in. Three casks for about six weeks holding the pressure well. This item does not "rock" like plastic items. It just looks solid. Let's see how they hold up.

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Makes me angry

Cannot handle more than 20psi!

Bought these for cold brewing with nitrogen at 45psi because the ones that came with my keg only lasted 35psi. The supplier said they were rated at 70psi, but they automatically drop about 20psi. Much lower than the plastic I used.

Pros
  • Availability
Cons
  • Hard to say

Small o-ring can get stuck in the seat

is a nuisance when the o-ring gets stuck in the seat and pulls the rod halfway out, blocking the keg's pressure relief valve trite make pressure. This relieved all the pressure and I had to remove the port cap and disassemble the relief valve, reinstall the o-ring and repressurize.

Pros
  • Special Offer
Cons
  • High Price

Will not fit newer Corny kegs

The stem on these safety valves is slightly shorter than standard generic safety valves. They will sit and seal, but then leak terribly. (Thank goodness I tested them before bottling a batch of beer.) However, I found them to work great on my old Firestone keg. The shorter stem here corresponds to the length of the OEM valve. Beware.

Pros
  • An Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Circa

Better tight than original plastic

I had to get them as a last resort when a CO2 tank leaked from one of my kegs. Got them as a last resort to refurbish an old Prv on a couple of my existing barrels. With a little teflon tape to ensure a good seal, they worked perfectly. The stainless steel construction makes it easy to screw the valves in (certainly not too tight!) without worrying about damaging the threads or gaskets on the keg lid. Definitely worth the upgrade and it's nice to have a few extras for future setbacks.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • So-so
