Works well, good for scanners and testers

The instructions were written in paragraphs and were too long-winded, so I watched a 1-minute YouTube video and figured out how to do it faster used to read as 2 pages a book. I've used it twice to find studs in the wall and it did its job well.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...

Works reasonably honestly.

Works satisfactorily. The display has to be viewed straight on, it's not as sharp as in these pictures and anything that's at an angle looks pretty dark. It seems sufficient to warn of hidden cables and pipes. Finds wooden studs normally and has been reliable so far. I've only used it for drywall.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Doubtful

Better than chance - Thorn Finders

I knock on walls softer. But after finding 5 spikes, my ankles hurt. this thing is much easier to use. however, the accuracy leaves much to be desired. It's better than guessing for sure where the hairpin is. but not very reliable mines can be defective. I still use it. but that's just better than nothing.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Available in white only

works quick and easy.

Using a sharp pencil to mark the edges, he finds the spikes very easy to find. The wires and metal behind the walls look almost the same as behind a blank wall panel. Great tool to keep in your tool box. For a long usage lag, I would recommend removing the battery to protect it from draining or damaging your device should it leak.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Packaging is ugly

Simple and efficient - scanner and tester

Works great and the instructions are quite simple. I've been watching videos too, but if you're like me and have never used any of these: 1) Hold the nail finder up to the wall before turning it on. 2) Press and hold the side button until it beeps and hold it down while searching for nails 3) Locate the posts by slowly moving the viewfinder along the wall in a horizontal direction. If he beeps, you've found him!

Pros
  • A lot of positive emotions
Cons
  • Appearance

Perfect for work!

I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the package to find the battery included! So that was a bonus! It was very easy to use and the instructions are very clear. When I read previous reviews it is pointed out that the display can only be read from the front, but this is not the case with a fresh battery. My only advice is to go slow! Once the viewfinder is up against the wall, move it from left to right as instructed, but if you move it too fast it will miss the change, so go slow! Arrived…

Pros
  • Trial period for one year
Cons
  • There are problems

Basically works fine. Maybe too good

Works most of the time. I think he's discovering something deeper than he should. I've found that sometimes it recognizes what's on the other side on the wall, rather than what's actually behind the wall. So I have a lot of unnecessary extra holes in the wall because he found a picture or a shelf on the other side instead of an empty space behind the drywall. Because of this, I wish there were settings for thinner walls. It has additional settings for deeper walls and for power. Locating…

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Not reliable

Only for modern construction.

I only received this an hour ago so I'm admittedly making some hasty judgments. Also remember that my house is old with old fashioned cloth insulated wiring. This is what electricians refer to as column and tube (porcelain) wiring. Adding to my difficulty finding wall studs is that my walls use a lathe and plaster. It's an ugly, rough "spray on the walls" type plaster. If you've seen crumbled plaster of Paris sprinkled with oatmeal, you have an idea. It's thick, maybe 1/2 to 5/8 inch plaster…

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
