Description of OPINEL №8 Beech (123080) Brown Multitool - Versatile and Reliable Tool for All Your Needs

The Opinel 8 VRI knife model of the Inox series is suitable for use during trips to nature or in an ordinary kitchen. Its blade uses Sandvik 12C27 steel from Sweden. It is a stainless steel alloy with a high hardness rating of 58 HRC. Such steel tolerates contact with water well, but does not lose its sharpening quality for a long time compared to other brands. The Opinel 8 VRI is slick-sharpened and has an 8.5cm blade that is thin enough to easily cut through food and other materials. The thickness of the butt of the knife is 1.7 mm. The shape of the blade is also universal - with a sharp tip just below the butt line. The handle of the Opinel 8 VRI is made of beech wood in a classic shape with a wide butt. Wood has many advantages over other materials, including resistance to rust, lightness, strength. It is pleasant to hold a knife in your hands at any time of the year, since in summer it practically does not heat up, and in winter it does not cool your hand. In addition, the handle is impregnated with a special compound that increases the wood''s resistance to getting wet. This knife can be washed in the dishwasher along with the rest of the dishes. The folding model of the Opinel 8 VRI knife is equipped with a clutch lock called Viroblock. A few decades ago, this lock was developed specifically for Opinel and is now used in all folding models of this brand. The advantage of such a lock lies in its ability to lock the blade both in the open and in the folded position. In addition, the design of the lock is very simple and it consists of only one part - a metal swivel sleeve. Convenience and simplicity, reliability and functionality, perhaps these are the requirements that every knife owner needs. You will find all these qualities in knives from the French company Opinel. Specifications: Foldable design; Viroblock blade lock; Overall length: 195 mm; Blade length: 85 mm; Handle length: 110 mm; Blade width (maximum): 17.5 mm; Blade thickness: 1.7 mm; Steel grade: Sandvik 12C27 (stainless steel); Hardness of steel: 57-58 HRC; Handle material: beech; Knife weight: ~ 46 gr. Attention! Beware of cheap Chinese fakes! The Opinel 8 VRI Inox knives offered by us are 100% original, brought from France.

Beyond praise! The product definitely deserves your attention.

Classic Opinel, always in the bag, always at hand, despite the fact that there is always some other folding knife in the pocket. Cuts thinly, any food is like butter for him. As a rule, sharpening is not required, only musat. Due to the construction it is very light. The most important thing is that it is cheap, it’s not a pity to lose it and it’s not scary to accidentally spoil it. In my opinion, this is a must have for anyone who loves knives.

Pros
  • Well-known brand, quality sprocket, excellent cut
Cons
  • Requires care

Fits the description completely, very satisfying.

Great knife for hiking, not big and light. Cuts well and sharpens easily. I immediately covered the handle with ship varnish so that it would not swell in dampness. Simple fixer. common on these knives. Sturdy wood is used for the handle.

I didn't expect the quality to be so high.

It holds sharpening well, cuts perfectly, the handle is comfortable. I consider N8 a pocket option, for a picnic or a hike you need at least N10, since the length of 8 is not enough to cut bread :(. Oh yes, I bought it on Ozo. E and is cheaper than I take it. I recommend the knife

A great option for this money, I definitely recommend it!

A knife, just a knife. Well, a great example of why the classics are immortal. If you are tired of the pretentiousness of modern knives, then you are here. The only claim to the knife is the same traditional manufacturing techniques as he himself. Today it looks like some carelessness in processing and manufacturing, quite normal for handmade, but unexpected for a mass-produced product.

Pros
  • - knife format - traditional (form, design) - blade lock
Cons
  • - traditional (manufacturing technology)

In 1985, the world's largest museum of decorative arts and design, the Victoria and Albert Museum in England, ranked the Opinel, along with a Porsche 911 and a Rolex watch, as one of the top 100 design items in the world. In 2022, the brand was included in the three-volume Phaidon Design Classics, an authoritative collection of design classics that includes 999 designs carefully selected by experts from different fields.

Pros
  • Excellent outstanding shape of the knife, excellent sharp blade and reliable lock.
Cons
  • There are no disadvantages.

They gave me a knife, I didn’t even consider Opineli before. I am a fan of folding knives though. I liked the idea and quality, I switched to Opineli :) It is clear that the knife is not for power work due to the design features. But simple, there is nothing to break. Nice looking, nice to use. The result of the acquaintance was the purchase of Opinel No. 13 Giant !

Pros
  • Idea. Execution.
Cons
  • With a force load, the blade slowly turns the lock to the side due to the beveled locking edge, which is fraught with closing the knife on the fingers.

Good product for me, no problems at all.

I love this company's knives. The most feminine knives in the world, I think. Very light, perfect for hiking. Natural handle material, it is warm even in winter! How it cuts food. if you've never cut with Opinel - find it and try it, you won't regret it! It is brought together thinly, if sharply sharpened, then no effort is needed, the tomato under it falls apart by itself! Cheese is very cool to cut them. Walk for mushrooms. In general, the most versatile knife, which, moreover, costs a penny.

Pros
  • Lightweight, sharp.
Cons
  • If not cared for, the handle will swell.
