Instead of trying a set of art pastels, I chose these and I regret my decision. They are soft and I would even say that some of the shades were surprisingly high quality. However, this pastel could not be applied to paper. When I was done, there was as much dust and pastel on the floor as there was on my paper. I wasn't sure what I bought for the colors in this 60 pack. The colors are strong and fun to work with. Not as soft and crumbly as Sennelier. Blends well, soft to soft. Comparable size with other brands. Good basic set. Browns and reds are a little scratchy and dry, but it's not uncommon for many brands to use these colors with this pigment-to-binder ratio.
