Not durable: my feedback

The first crimper I received did not work. There was no problem exchanging the item. The replacement worked fine. After making approximately 500 crimps the crimper stopped working. Unfortunately the return period had expired. I would not recommend this tool.

Don't buy it. - my new review

You'll read several reviews talking about how difficult the install is, and how that is coming from successful DIYers.here's another. I've accomplished major household renovations and this system.ugh. Never again.The hydraulic crimper is terrible - I went through 2 before going to buy a decent one, for the same price.And they don't send the tool for holding the adjustable end, which they state in the description is ESSENTIAL. That's correct, essential, proprietary tools are NOT included.

Spend the money on a quality crimper!

I purchased this crimper to field swage the cable rail connections for my deck. It has been an utter disappointment and a ton of wasted time and money.It's extremely difficult to pump and there's no clear indication as to how much crimping force is being applied. I resorted to pumping the crimper 20 times, crimping the connection twice for each fitting, and the cables are still pulling out when tensioned.At this point I don't trust the current connections with my children and I'm afraid I just…

Overall satisfied, but.

The press worked great, but did break from a metal fatigue stress fracture after only 200 or so crimps. It was promptly replaced no hassel.Overall I like the press but feel it coukd be much improved with a longer and more ergonomic handel as well as a flat back so that when you are crimping on a flat surface it doesn't spin sideways or mar the surface it is sitting on. I think the breaking issue was a fluke.

Poor quality - my new review

The device only lasted for about 200 crimps before it stopped crimping and put my project on hold. May be due to the fluid or the seal, but still not an effective device for the money spent for 200 crimps. Not recommended. I will replace with another brand to get my project started again.

These crimpers were sold in connection with Stainless steel fixtures. They are not really tough enough to do the job. Thanks for attention!

Crimper great! Cutter no so much

The crimper is strong and you will get your workout in. The cutter in weak. 50 cuts in and I can't cut another cable. The ends are rounded off.

Defective product on arrival

Received a defective product. There was oil everywhere when opened. Refilled the oil and attempted to crimp my cable railing project. It leaked oil when attempting to crimp. I was only able to get halfway through the first crimp. I discovered that the bladder that holds the oil was punctured. Now I'm stuck with a half crimped connector and oil every where on my deck.

Great tool if you use it right!

After reading the negative reviews I decided to take a chance on this tool on the belief that most of those reviews were a reflection of faulty users and not faulty tools. As I predicted, at least in my case, I was right! Adding pipes and other things for leverage is a recipe for disaster as anyone who knows anything about hydraulics knows, over pressuring a cylinder will cause failure in the tool or the seals! Still takes a lot of force to operate

The cutter was amazing. It cut the cable super clean. The crimper, despite all of those tons of force it is rated for, still takes a lot of effort to operate. Maybe it doesn't actually deliver the force they say it crimps at, or an even higher pressure model is needed. It definitely took me about all my strength in both hands to operate.

After 144 and still going - Leverage!

The tool makes nice crimps but man is it tough on the hands. After a while I had to use 2 tubes (from floor jack handle) for leverage. It warns against using too much force and popping the seals so I was careful not to over pressurize the part. I've done 144 crimps so far.Also, make something to stop it from rotating during the crimping process and use extensions on the handles if you want to make this easy on your hands, I used my Workmate as a vise to hold it.When crimping I noticed it never…

Worked for our installation

We crimped about 50 of these, two crimps each. My suggestion is to go in the order shown on the picture - crimp closest to the end first, then move into the middle. Worked much better for me. This thing takes a lot of force. I laid it down on a bench and used two hands on the moving handle. It ran out of fluid with no visible leak about a third of the way into the project but the instructions were pretty clear on how to refill. Just know where to go get hydraulic jack fluid.
