NATURAL CHOLLA WOOD | Fertilizer and Pesticide Free | Completely safe for all our animal friends. Great for Shrimp tanks, tying moss to, great for Hermit Crabs. Small Shrimp and Fry will enjoy swimming in and around. Excellent hiding places for vulnerable babies. Boiling prior to use will help increase rate at which the wood will sink.

Great for my shrimp tank!

Perfect for my little shrimp tank! I soaked the pieces in hot water for an hour, then added them to my fish tank and attached a few pieces of plants to a couple of holes. My shrimp went straight away. They offer great hiding places for small shrimp!

Pros
  • A little over
Cons
  • Expensive insurance

Excellent quality. Best in Fish & Aquatic Pets

Cholla wood is available from many sources, but not all are of the same quality. Some may contain impurities that can affect your water parameters. I took them, lightly cooked them to be safe, and put all five in the tank. Snails and shrimp are very fond of them, and the centers are hollow and open at both ends, giving the shrimp places to hide. Ideally.

  • Complete Set

Not good for shrimp

I really like the wooden pieces I received. I originally bought these for my cherry shrimp so they have a place to hide and get away from the fish. After a few shrimp went away (unusual because the only other fish there are guppies) I looked in the middle and a few shrimp got stuck and died :(. Now it's with my roosters and everything is fine. I don't recommend it for small shrimp

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • sad packaging

Great cholla wood but not hollow

This natural cholla wood looks great in my shrimp tank! It was very easy to prepare for my aquarium. I boiled 5 pieces of wood for a few hours and left them in the water for a day or so. They drowned easily in the tank. As you can see they look amazing in my shrimp tank. Judging by the photos I saw, I was under the impression that the pieces of wood are hollow, but they aren't. However, the wood looks very attractive.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • So far so good

A must for tropical aquariums

Cholla wood makes a great addition. I have several tropical setups and use them all. As with any other supplier, the wood MUST BE COOKED before being placed in the aquarium. Cooking removes the tannins from the wood, so your tank won't cloud over when wood is added. Boiling also helps the wood soak and sink. I boiled them several times until the water in the pot was almost clear. I also soaked wood in aquarium water overnight in a ziplock bag. As you can see it sank with no problem and stayed…

Pros
  • Handy item
Cons
  • No paint required
