This knitted hemp is a completely natural and environmentally friendly product that is also very durable! The fibers are scratchy enough to wash dishes but don't tear my hands, and they hold water or wring dry for the most part, however you choose to use them.

I threw them away. I liked the packaging idea. But like others, I tried washing and soaking them, thinking that dish soap with essential oils could get rid of the smell. Nothing worked. Except I haven't tried soaking them in chlorine bleach. Spirit. I have been using a natural crocheted hemp tea towel for many years. Natural fibers do not smell like petrol/diesel/other chemical gas stations. It is not an unprocessed natural fiber.

The last sponges we got are sooooo thin compared to the ones we got a few months ago. Our first order was thick and bulky; The sponge felt like I was holding something with the substance. These newer ones (which I ordered after about 3 months because others had a hole where my thumb used to be and I don't have long or sharp nails) seem very flimsy and flimsy. I really liked this product but I don't recommend it. In terms of dishwashing and finishes, they work great and seem to be holding up, but I just can't stand the smell. They appear to be natural fibers, but the smell is definitely based on petroleum and not natural fibers. Is it coated with some kind of preservative? These are great little scrubbers for washing dishes. I love that they are handcrafted and serviced by a small company. I've been using it daily for about 2 weeks and I don't notice any smell. I hang them up to dry after use. Hemp has a mild cleaning ability to remove stuck things. I don't think it would work for super baked things, but if you're good at washing your dishes you shouldn't have a problem.
