I had to switch from permanent hair color to this substance due to a systemic rash from PPD. I can't say it's that comfortable, but it's safer. I treated the henna first, applied it and then used the indigo alone. I added a pinch of salt on the advice of a youtuber and so far the color remains dark after 3 washes. This was my first time and although the color is black I'm really looking for a jet black or blue black result next time.

I loved the indigo color and the hold this brand gave me with the two step henna/indigo process. HOWEVER, this dye gave me an allergic reaction (red, itchy, irritated, bumpy skin) which is unusual with these plant dyes, so I suspect it contains a chemical. Use at your own discretion.

This indigo powder mixed perfectly with my henna to get the perfect color. It's only indigo, has a nice greenish color and smells like peas, just like it should. To hide the blonde in my hair I first dyed it with henna for a reddish orange base and then dyed it again with henna and indigo in a 1:1 ratio. It worked great. For pink I used henna first and then indigo. Love it!

I have been using indigo and henna for many years and this is definitely a high quality indigo powder. My hair is gray to white so I used indigo at a ratio of 3 parts indigo to 1 part henna. Add just warm water and let the mixture sit in a covered glass container at around 100 degrees for an hour before applying. Don't follow the wrong directions for most of these natural dyes. Wash your hair and blow dry until almost dry. These are weak water-based dyes and will not add color to wet or greasy…

I don't know what the problem is with this product, maybe it's expired or they mix indigo powder with something else? However it didn't work and I've been using henna and indigo for over 10 years (it wasn't "user error"). ("Indigo" didn't bleed blue at all.)

Fantastic product - gives my 70 year old mum the long lasting purple she wants and adds just the right amount of purple to make my henna purple.
