Description of πŸ”© NEIKO 10052A Spot Weld Drill Bit, Titanium Coated High Speed Weld Cutter, 8mm (5/16-Inch), made from Cobalt Steel

[APPLICATION]: Use this spot weld drill bit to separate spot welds and resistance spot welding panels without distorting the sheet metal. [HEAVY DUTY]: Special grade high speed steel cobalt mix is designed for long service life to withstand quick speed running rate. [DURABLE]: Heat resistant titanium coating withstands high-performance metal and wood drilling when used in high temperature environments. [PRO GRADE]: Flat ground surface on bottom half of bit provides additional strength and chuck hold on any welding drill. [PRECISE]: Nibbed pilot tip design increases accuracy and prevents slipping when held down for marking purposes. [SIZE]: Standard 8mm bit at 1-3/4" (45mm) length is commonly used for locating spot welds in automobile frames.

This spot weld drill cuts!

Just the right size to spot weld on a front fender I cut off a 1957 Thunderbird. The smaller drill corresponded to the smaller-diameter spot welding of the old automobile production. He was perceptive and did his job well.

Pros
  • Spot Welder
Cons
  • So far so good

Medium to Light Duty

Not bad, but not too good either. Keep your drilling speed slow and they'll last a lot longer. Once you quickly roll them out and heat them, they're done. These were the cheapest bits in this style of spot welding and were used to drill spot welds into the side of the short receiver box. One side of the box per punch is all I could get from them. There are better quality bits for a little more money that last a lot longer.

Pros
  • Welding Gear
Cons
  • Fragile

Can't take it - Spot Welders

To the point. First, they are too short to be used in a conventional drill. did it, but with difficulty. Third, they only made 4 or 5 cuts before just spinning and generating heat without cutting. Details: We bought two just in case; The first went through four spot welds with some difficulty and was then unusable. I set the drill to low speed and tried another, but the result didn't improve.

Pros
  • Welders and Accessories
Cons
  • Big and Bulky
