Overall a good product for the low price. As others have pointed out, putting in batteries is no easy task! I didn't use cheap carbon batteries, but branded alkaline batteries. It was not easy to install them in such a way that the battery cover could be closed properly. Also noteworthy; The battery cover does not slide off as advertised until the small screw is removed. I was very pleased with this tachometer. The excitement died down when I had to find a special piece to secure the battery door screw and I found that Godzilla had tightened it. Why, especially when you put the batteries in first? The battery box was designed by someone who doesn't understand tolerances. The supplied batteries did not fit! The negative spring clips were completely crushed and it was still not possible to properly install the batteries with the button on the positive terminal. I

Couldn't work right out of the box. The device was still sealed so no return, but the first attempt to use it failed to read. I work in optics and immediately knew the problem was with the lens assembly as it was loose and out of place. I was able to fix it quickly and then it worked like a charm.
