Not for leather use without conversion

I bought it to gauge leather and erroneously thought, since the description indicated it could be used for leather, that it had ounces on its measurement dial. I can convert from millimeters, but it’s a pain. Returning stuff to Best Buy is too hard and I can work with it. It works fine, just not exactly what I wanted.

Pros
  • I use this to make sure I’m getting what I’m told I’m buying. So far, very accurate.
Cons
  • The item looks like used and has a scratch and you can even read the numbers.

The perfect tool for my job

I've only been using it for a week and it hasn't given me a bad reading. I work with sheet metal and the way the pallets are stacked I needed a compact tool and a half inch is the thickest that my laser can cut

It’s good for Quick checking

I really like the thickness gage for checking end mills size odds and ends parts I recommend having this tool if you’re a machinist.

  • The thin plastic casing is not very sturdy, making the device prone to damage if dropped or mishandled

Thickness Gauge Intended For Material

Was disappointed in its accuracy. It was not able to measure leather, silicone or cardstock with expected accuracy or consistency. I returned the item for a refund.

  • It works as advertised, and I'll tell you in a couple of years whether it is made well

  • The device is not very versatile, as it can only be used for measuring thickness and not for other metrics

Accurate High Quality Gauge

The gauge shipped quickly and was well boxed for protection in transit. It comes with a well fitted padded hard case for daily storage. One button push conveniently allows one to switch measurements between mm and inches in decimal or fraction format. The contact plates are finely grounded. That, combined with consistent spring tension, rather than thumb pressure pressing on the plates, provides accurate and repeatable results. I strongly recommend this purchase.

Fun while it lasted

This has been a great tool, but mine died unexpectedly a year after purchasing. I did check battery voltage and the battery was still good.

Great for the money

I added a spring between the body and the anvil. It cut down on the amount it opened but works very good on wood veneer. I have bought 6 of them and not a problem with any of them

Finally an accurate digital sheet thickness gauge at an affordable price.

Solid die cast and painted/coated metal handle. Stainless steel gauge pads and meter bar. Chrome plated meter actuation arm. Accurate to within 5 ten thousands which is perfect for the purposes of gauging paper to set a printing press impression pressure. Easy to read display in both US standard and Metric measurements. Uses a standard off the shelf button battery that is easy to change. Even comes with a foam padded plastic case to keep it safe. Is completely accurate for my copy of this…

Check for defective units

Bought 8 of these. Threw out 2 and returned one. Quality control needs huge improvement. What’s the point of saving $$$ when you are throwing 1/3 of the gauges.
