It Worked First Time

If you're not sure what a router is for, it offers flexibility and security for a DSL or cable modem user. Flexibility as combined with a LAN setup (Ethernet cards on your computers + an ethernet hub or one of those wireless or phone network systems) it allows you to share your fast network connection to multiple computers at the same time. (even if your ISP only gives you an IP address). Security, as the default configuration protects your network from external hacking attempts. The routerโ€ฆ

Rather OK.: Computers and accessories

The Netgear RT311 DSL/Cable Router has been touted as impeccable. Unfortunately, this is not the whole story. Let me tell you the other half. I work in a cable modem. We are afraid of customers who buy this product just because of the many pitfalls. Although the router is competitively priced, consumers often fail to understand that "you get what you pay for". Problem number 1. Netgear RT311 DSL/Cable Router is having problems/problems with DHCP update. Dynamically assigned IP clientsโ€ฆ

Very good computers and accessories

I actually have an RT314 that integrates an RT311 with a 4-port switch (Note on switches and hubs. The hub shares bandwidth between attached devices. So if You have one computer connected to the Internet through a hub and a second computer connected to a third computer through a LAN to transfer files, the total speed between them is no more than 100 Mbit / s ( full bandwidth communication). Anyway, this is a great device. I took it out of the box, plugged in the cables and everything workedโ€ฆ

Very handy router

Bought with a Netgear FS-108 switch and planning to sell later, but after reading the details of all its features decided to keep it. It's very easy to set up. One side connects to our cable modem and the other to our hub. After reconfiguring the computer to use DHCP and rebooting, I was able to access the router configuration web wizard. After a few screens, the router was up and running and I started surfing the web. The entire setup from box to browsing took five minutes. The web interfaceโ€ฆ
