Not recommended for trail running

I love New Balance shoes so I was excited to try this product. I take my dog on long walks in the Virginia woods, so I needed good shoes for off-road hiking. I've always been a big fan of Merrell's but lately they don't seem to be of the best quality. These New Balance shoes are too narrow on the foot and offer very little comfort and softness in the outsole. Not sure why some reviews say it's like walking/running through air. I even put the insoles in and it's still not a very good walking…

Great value trail boot

Comfortable. Firmly. Light. Excellent grip on mixed gravel/rock/grass trails. The toe protection works well when I slam my foot on a rock that would have been painful in my road running shoes. Good for walking but reassured by their light weight and grip, making them great for trail sprints. A solid buy when you can find it on sale for just over $40. Others help the shoe fit a wide foot - but a regular size 10 fits like a regular size 10 - not too wide and I have an LV foot. Enjoy

Ideal for wide feet, with low padding

I like the wide toe box. (Thank you New Balance! You've been so kind to us wide-footed freaks over the years.) The tread seems decent and durable, but I've just melted the snow and will be able to try rock climbing soon. A bit disappointed with the amount of cushioning but I guess that's to be expected from a shoe. I won't be using them for road running and I might have trouble walking just a mile on road to get to the trails. walk on the streets.
