New Balance KV990V4 Toddler Girls' Running Shoes Review

Always bought them for my sin. This is the latest 990, he complains that the tongue is too thick or fluffy and not flat like he would like. Makes the upper of the shoe slightly uncomfortable.

These are good quality shoes. They have lots of padding and structure and feel more like real shoes than children's shoes. The velcro closure makes them very easy to put on and some kids can even take them off on their own. However. They are too bulky. This is a common problem with children's shoes that I've found. Shoes can be too heavy or bulky, making it difficult for the child to walk. It's not the worst thing I've seen, but I was disappointed they didn't do more to make them light…

The best AFO/ankle brace shoe on the market. They are strong, open very wide to accommodate braces and fasten securely. I've tried at least 3 other supposedly "very wide" boots that didn't fit at all. New Balance is worth the extra money!

Beautiful shoes for little girls. Comfortable. However, it is not made in the USA but my daughter loves it and I am happy with my purchase.

We always return to kv990. After trying different models from NB, this is the only one that is really wide enough for wide feet. We've had the kv990 for the last few school years and thought we'd try a different style this year, but neither model was this comfortable width. We now have our 4th pair! This year's version also features a more secure Velcro closure.

Not made in USA, instant loss of one star. Otherwise we always buy shoes for my son Odin because it's the only brand I know that makes shoes very wide. Unfortunately we have to pay a lot, but at least we don't force his feet into small shoes.

Why did our New Balance arrive in a Nike box? It's a birthday present, I can't give it away in this box. Shame as they are a gift.

Much easier to fit the heels of his other shoes onto my baby feet that don't have the extra width. My child seems to like the fit but is not yet 2 years old. He said "Yes!" when I put them on him

My boys have been wearing NB for a number of years. They are well made and wide enough for her wide feet. This new model has a problem: it is not easy to open because it is very strong. The N shape makes it harder to open than the old style. These shoes are not cheap. But it does the least, so we'll still buy it again.

My daughter has worn these shoes several times over the course of 2 weeks and now the tongue on the shoe has fallen off. It hangs on 1 thread. Can't recommend this shoe. I've paid a lot less for shoes that hold up a lot better. Unfortunately I had my first return attempt today and see that the return period has expired by 2 days.

Very bad quality! I bought them in April, my daughter only wears them 2 times a week and they are already ruined! I used to have Puma, Nike and never that.

My son has wide feet and so far New Balance shoes have been the only shoes he has felt comfortable in. Also, he has autism and can't tie his laces yet, so velcro in the larger sizes helps a lot. Thank you New Balance and Best Buy.

I was told by an online rep on the New Balance website that the arch is essential; one of the largest arches that there is in children's shoes. Not true. You can put your hand in the boot and barely feel the arches. Disappointing. My child has functional flat feet and should have an arch. Velcro is very strong which I like.

GREAT quality and according to the 6 year old they feel great and apparently he can run a lot faster in them than his last pair.

These are really cute shoes. They are very well done. . I love that the velcro closure makes it easy to put on and take off. thick soles. Your shoes will last much longer. Great color and goes with everything.

Garbage! My son has been wearing these boots for a month and the tongue has already come off. These shoes are too expensive for this to happen so quickly.

Ordered these for my 4 year old boys and within 2 months had split toes. I was so angry I spent $150 on shoes that lasted two months. They've worn New Balance shoes since they ran, and they're by far the most expensive and shortest-lived running shoe.

Velcro in this style (KV990) differs from KV888 in one very important way. The strap simply goes through the top of the shoe. It doesn't twist, which means it's difficult to get it to tighten the shoe from side to side. It doesn't work for my daughter as she has narrow legs. However, it may be preferable for full legs. And I agree with others that the tongue is too fat and big. Maybe this is meant to help the shoe stay in place, but it's ineffective.

If your child has wide feet, New Balance may be the only shoe that fits them. This shoe fits great in the XW for toddlers with chubby feet but the velcro was a hindrance for us as it prevented my baby from moving his feet up and down properly. This version of the shoe with laces is the best shoe ever! So be careful when buying this shoe, the velcro may not be very comfortable.
