Men's Brown New Balance MW978 Athletic Walking Shoes Review

I tried six different Try Before You Buy hiking shoes. I have feet with wide toes, narrow heels and high arches. My usual shoe size is 13 4E. This was one of the boots I felt pretty comfortable in. However, when I laced these boots up, the ends of the laces were right over the tongues. I'm sure the laces will slip off my tongue after walking around in them for a while. I think the tongue should have been a bit longer and probably the top lace hook should have been a bit lower.

I have been very happy with New Balance products in the past. Not now. This is by far the largest sum I've spent on shoes in a long time. New Balance has compromised all of its quality standards. The materials suck, the workmanship is poor, they're not waterproof (perhaps partially waterproof) and they don't fit properly. You can find much better shoes in this price range, MUCH better. If I had paid $49.95 for it instead of over $155 I probably would have felt like I got what I paid for.

Very bad shoes. Worn once in the rain. After 5 minutes, water entered my leg. Thought it might be an accident. tried again Same result. I walked on the water and my foot got wet immediately. NOT RECOMMENDED. Unfortunately, I didn't try them immediately after purchasing them. The returns window is now closed.

The best shoes for my feet. I've been wearing them for 20 years now. Hard to find... The best place to buy them is Walmart. I have type 2 diabetes and these shoes have allowed me to walk all day at work. I buy a new pair every year when they become available.

New Balance from USA used to be a trusted brand. These are made in China. The soles fell apart in a year and I only weigh about 190 pounds! Also, the first ones I ordered were a size smaller than the label said, so I had to pay for return shipping and reordering.

These are the best running shoes I've ever had. They are very comfortable. I added panels for arch support and they are comfortable all day.

These shoes are at least 1/2 size larger than what you normally wear and at least 1-2 sizes wider, these shoes are really good but the fit chart is far from correct, very tight shoes.

The reason I gave that 2 stars is because right out of the box, between the layers on the right side of the right boot, there is a bit rubbing on my foot. It's probably big enough to give me a blister walking around for hours, but not big enough to take a proof photo. It must be accidentally folded skin that cannot be straightened. It's definitely not 4E. Almost 2E. Very disappointed in New Balance. I thought I could crack them but no luck so far. I will not buy again

They took a while to break in as they were very stiff when new but are very comfortable now. I bought them 4 years ago and I want to buy a new pair. Unfortunately, New Balance seems to have stopped production.

The boots I received were too small. I usually wear 9w; After a long additional shipping I tried 9, 9 1/2 and finally 10. I like the boots but the tongue is too short and the top knot keeps twisting to be over the top of the tongue.

These boots are my "casual" all-season shoes! I was so worried when I couldn't find them in NB stores or online. Walmart shipped the last two items in stock! My feet dance a happy dance!

I was really looking forward to using these shoes. Unfortunately, they are clearly undersized. I was the same size as my other New Balance shoes but these were too short. I sent them back. With my foot size I would have to go a whole number longer. Not sure how that would work.

I really liked the summaries when I first received them. Super comfortable, doesn't need a break. Good for hiking in the woods if it's not too rocky. These boots are made in Vietnam. The sizing isn't exactly what I'm used to from US sizes. I would recommend that you add at least 1/2 size to your normal needs.

It was a great shoe while it lasted. Which wasn't very long, the sole was poorly bonded to the boot. As a result, I switched to my old but beautiful leather 974, which the new balance no longer holds.

I have had several of these pairs and they fit me perfectly. The wide ones give me the freedom of toes that I need. Stiff lugged outsoles provide good grip and traction. Waterproof. I just wish they had higher ankle support.

i have small feet Men 7B (N). I have bought several pairs of shoes in this style over the years. 2 of 3 fit perfectly (7N) I returned a pair and ordered 7.5 NI. I am in the process of ordering a 978v1 in 7N and a new 1400v1 in 7.5 NI. If both fit, I'll let them both and go for now. another confusing review. The Rollbar sole was recommended by an orthopedic company a year ago. The ankle support in these shoes, along with the cambered outsole, gives me the confidence to walk. This model also looks good.

They didn't even last 6 months and as it was Fall 2020 the shoes weren't worn as often as usual. My other New Balance shoes lasted 18 months without breaking. Since the shoes were purchased from Walmart, New Balance did not provide compensation.
